Thursday Games

This is my first time to the forum. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the commentary on the forum. I really enjoy the dedicated comments by Slicklizard. Slick is loyal to his War Eagles. His comments are right on target and realistically honest. I love the Class 5A weekly rankings. They are honest and spot on. I am a Gautier Gator fan. My son and I attend every game--home or away. The last decade has been very frustrating without much success for the Gators despite having lots of talent. These last two years have been so exciting and fun. We attended the West Jones-Gautier playoff game last year in Soso. Great Game! My son told me that Slick was sitting beside us and was asking him about the Gautier team. Heartbreaking loss. Gautier had come so far. We think we have the best QB in the state. We hope that the season will last much longer. Which brings me to a question for the forum. I have never seen Picayune play this year, but with our offense I think we have a chance against them. Just read that our game with Picayune to end the regular season will be on Thursday (11/3). Picayune plays at Long Beach tonight. Therefore, they play back to back Thursdays. Gautier has a short week to prepare for that game. Why was this game chosen for a Thursday night with so much on the line? Was the travel even considered. Why not two other district games (Vancleave- East Central and West Harrison-Long Beach) instead? We will be there regardless the day. Just wondering-Who makes the decision as to who plays on Thursday and who does not? GO GATORS!!!!

Welcome to the forum.  Picayune will play tomorrow (Friday night) and not today.  Sorry for any confusion you might have seen.

Only Coast teams playing tonight are Jeff Davis County vs. St. Stanislaus and Pass Christian vs. Green County. Both games are at 7 pm. The Picayune game against Long Beach is on Friday. Next week, all remaining Coast teams play on Thursday at 7 pm. If any Coast team is in the first round of the playoffs, they will play on Friday. The change in playing dates were mandated by the MHSAA.

Thanks for the update on correct game days. The Picayune-Gautier game looks to be the game to see. I was listening to the Ocean Springs post game show in my car last week following the Gautier- East Central game. They were reading out scores for Friday night. When they read out the scores for Gautier and Picayune, they mentioned that these two teams will be playing each other twice this year. Let's hope so. The playoffs don't always go as planned.

Glad that you’ve found this little high school info site. It probably had more traffic years back, but I keep hoping that we see more discussion going forward.

I’m an Ocean Springs fan, so it’s great to see another Jackson Cty fan on here. We might disagree with who’s better between your Irving and our Bray Hubbard, but there’s no doubt that Jackson Cty is QB central. Good luck with Picayune, and on into the playoffs.

I guess the greatest form of flattery is imitation, Whoever that was talking to you son was an imposter . I was in Picayune that night.

If our paths ever cross at the same game hit me up though. Good luck to you guys except if we play each other, lol.

Welcome aboard there  is always a need for more genuine people on here.

Oh man when we meet I hope I don't meet the imposter. That would suck.

So we have to play Gautier twice this year?  I’m sure the folks in region 3 might beg to differ.  But when the playoffs start anything can happen.  If we do have to play Gautier twice then so be it.  Picayune will be up for the challenge.

I’m planning on being up there tomorrow night and will be looking for this copycat. He’s on the clock right now. I’ve got boots on the ground in Jones County.

Slick. There is no doppleganger. After the Gautier-West Jones playoff game last year my son was reading the forum. He made the comment that a man from Wayne County was sitting next to him rooting for Gautier. He told me that the man might be Slick. He didn't say that it was Slick. I should not have assumed that was you. My apologies. Go War Eagles-Beat Laurel!!!

Aw man , no apology is necessary. It was getting interesting there for a minute. It checks out he was a Wayne if he was against West Jones.
Honestly it was sounding like a Laurel fan. They like to copy .
Way back Masonite( who built Laurel) got train load after train load of bricks to build those smoke stacks at the mill. When new regulations and materials came about they tore them down and built modern ones for the times. They donated all those brick along with others in storage  to the city and they began constructing sewer infrastructure with them for their city. For five or six years they dug and put bricks down for their flushed waste to go through.A couple of decades later and mass produced steel became a thing and the city starting replacing the bricks with steel pipe. The bricks weren’t through though. They started putting them down as streets in what is the old part of the town and , you guessed it , a football stadium. So when you are sitting between the bricks you are sitting between the bricks but you also sitting on , touching “stuff” from a long time ago.

Now y’all know why they made a stadium out of bricks. It was free. Looks like the grass there would grow better though.

I didn’t even consider that maroon. I may not be able to give him an after school special because of the physical contact aspect. The same matter can’t occupy the same space. I could unravel the universe

so you have cloned yourself for  scouting purposes now? cheater.

I was told all 1A, 5A, and 6A games are on Thursday next week due to 2-4A playoffs taking place next week. Official shortage has apparently called for this to happen to ensure every game has an officiating crew.

What makes no sense to me is they say it is a shortage of officials but they have enough to cover them the other 10 weeks out of the year. What it really boils down to is they don't have enough good officials. So they split them up next week so their better officials can go cover a playoff game out of their area.
