Updated Region 3-5A standings as of 10/29:  Only covering what matters.

Hattiesburg 5-1 (5-5 overall).  Clinched playoff spot

West Jones 5-1 (7-2 overall).  Clinched playoff spot

Brookhaven 4-2 (6-4 overall)

Laurel 4-2 (5-5 overall)

Wayne County 4-2 (6-4 overall)

The rest doesn't matter.

Hattiesburg took possession of 1st place after knocking of West Jones.  Clinching a playoff spot in the process.

West Jones looked very bad for a 2nd straight week after the loss of their best player for the year and also the death of a team mate.  Not sure if they can recover.  They have totally unraveled.  They have for sure clinched a playoff spot.  But at this point they are likely to be bounced in the 2nd round.

Brookhaven did its thing.  May or may not have clinched a spot.  Lots of tie breakers could come into effect maybe.

Laurel knocked of Wayne County.  And they needed to.  With Hattiesburg knocking off West Jones, Laurel needs to beat Hattiesburg to assure itself of a playoff spot.  Lose that game they can get in if West Jones beats Wayne County.  If they lose and WC beats WJ, then they are out.

If Laurel beats Hattiesburg, and Wayne County beats West Jones, then we will have 5 teams at 5-2.  What are the tie breakers?

It would have to come down to points right? WC lost head to head to both Hattiesburg and laurel. West would have lost head to head to WC and Hattiesburg. Brookhaven lost head to head to WJ and WC. If it plays out like you say Laurel would have lost head to head to Brookhaven and WJ. Hattiesburg would have lost head to head to Brookhaven and Laurel. So it would have to go to points tie breaker

I'll do the easy part. If HHS beats Laurel they are no.1 seed. WJ beats WC they are no.2. Brookhaven beats SJ they are no.3 Laurel would be no.4 having the tiebreaker over WC. If WC beats WJ they will be in and Laurel out if Laurel loses to HHS.

Now do it there is a five way tie. Why did you leave that out ?

Let me start by saying that I’m not always right, so these scenarios could be wrong to an extent but nevertheless..

These scenarios have Brookhaven beating SJ…

*I’ll start with the simplest one.. if Hattiesburg and WJ both win.. it’ll be

1.Hattiesburg

2. West Jones

3. Brookhaven

4. Laurel

*if WJ and Laurel win

1. WJ

2. Brookhaven

3. Laurel

4. Hattiesburg

*If Wayne County and Hattiesburg win

1. Hattiesburg

2. Wayne County

3. West Jones

4. Brookhaven

* This last scenario is where things get complicated… in this scenario literally no team has mathematically clinched a playoff spot it will come down to point differential. Regardless of a point differential greater than 12.. 12 is the highest it can be… so if team A beat team D 42-6… Team A’s point differential is +12 and Team D’s is -12.. so with that being said if Laurel and Wayne County both win… here are the point Differential’s prior to the game..

WJ +12

Brookhaven +6

Wayne County +2

Hattiesburg -8

Laurel -12

if Laurel wins they make the playoffs- Seeding wouldn’t be set but they would be in.. Hattiesburg needs to win to secure a spot- if they lose they could miss out all together

Wayne County needs to win as well to secure a playoff spot

West Jones needs to win to secure a playoff spot

Brookhaven needs to win to secure a playoff spot

The point differential breakdown is complicated. So I’m not breaking it down that far(although I have in my head) it’s just way to much to type out… just know that each team needs to win to for sure make the playoffs

We will know a lot by Thursday night as WC and WJ play that night. Seeding won't be set until after the Little Brown Jug game.

I thought that was kinda salty. I have one of my own I’m saving.

Denote, to see the progress this team has made from the start of the season til now is unbelievable. We still got a lot to play for this season, but man I didn't realize how much we got coming back until I saw there was only like 10 seniors on the field for senior night

That’s a testament to coach Vance and his staff, he got these kids to buy in through all the haters and fans who don’t trust the process with a young team. The kids could have easily given up at 0-4. It’s also a testament to the phrase it’s not how you start it’s how you finish. The most important thing about our youth is we have continuity. We have a qb for the next 3 years and we have Twade for 2. Our junior class is stout and is the backbone of this team. I’ve been  a bit reserved this year so I’m going to enjoy it until the train stops.

I wish you would just go on ask the deonte out and stop the small talk but then again he could be a minor so I don't want to see you on to catch a predator, lol.

For real, deonte  is right the job that coach vance has done has been phenomenal as the season has gone on . So I have to give him credit even though I've never really cared for his antics.

After last night to me, Laurel looks like the best made up team we have played all season. They are huge at DL and OL and have the skill people to make it happen.

Wayne County doesn't have the skill people to close out games since Isiah went down. He either made our TDs or freed up the other backs by defences keying on him. We are too small at the line of scrimmage right now to play bigger teams week after week. They have done a lot better than anyone has expected and I feel very optimistic going forward. I think West has a lot of defensive players out so a Thursday game may be our best chance against them. Honestly I look for us not to be able to close this game out either but we play hard so the ball could bounce our way. Either way I'm going to get out and enjoy the playoffs . I think they are going to be as much of a toss up as they have in years.

The good news is WC has plenty of both size and skill on the way. I also think Coach Hankin reminds me a lot of Scott at WJ. He gets the most out of the players he has. I’ve seen in past years where WJ didn’t look like they should be on the same field with WC lol but they were competitive and won several of those games.

I believe the future is definitely bright at WC. When Boyd went down it definitely hurt us he was our most dynamic player. But we’re not out of the hunt yet and many people didn’t think that we would be here going into the last week of the regular season.

Let me first start off by saying welcome to MST PMT95.  I also don’t have any ill will towards Cody Stogner.  The only thing I did was express my opinion on a message board.  I would love to be completely wrong with my opinion, but I’m glad I stirred the pot LOL!  You are more than welcome to PM me and I’ll try to answer all of your questions as best as I can.

Well I sent a PM to you twice and got no answers. Now that Picayune  and Coach Stogner have won the district how about  you man up and defend the stupid statements you made?

If you told me before that season we had a shot to make playoffs in the last game of the season I would take it every time. The one thing we couldn’t have happen got us. We don’t have the depth to overcome the injuries. This is a program on the rise.

Oh lord the moderator for Picayune posts is back.

I don't moderate anything but I don't mind debating anyone or calling out something as stupid as what he said.  Look at his post and see if anything he said is close to correct.

I don't agree with what he said and try to overlook idiotic posts but anyway let's get back to talking football.

Nothing gets my blood pumping more then when you got five teams chomping at the bit for the same thing. We seen this possible scenario coming before the season but it sort of feels like a surprise. I never expected Brookhaven to be in this thing.

Future is bright at WC with the talent coming up, I hope we can steal one before those Cubs come in and find their footing.
