Dawg83 Posted October 11, 2022 Share Posted October 11, 2022 (edited) Pretty huge week of games both in-conference and nationally. Feels like it will a good Saturday to be in front of the TV all day. Auburn at Ole Miss - Auburn has been a bit of an Achilles heel for OM in recent years. And truthfully if this Auburn team were coached better I feel like they could be pretty solid. Ashford has some play making ability at QB, they have two very good RB’s, and a not terrible defense. But everyone knows the situation with Harsin is bad. Any game could be his last. I view this as a revenge spot for Ole Miss and think it might get ugly. If the game were in Auburn there might be some upset potential, but in Oxford I like Ole Miss big. OM is currently a 14 point favorite and I think they cover comfortably. State at Kentucky has suddenly turned into a pretty big game. Both teams are ranked, seemingly trending in opposite directions but State has struggled in its last few trips to Lexington. That can be a tough place to play at night. I firmly believe State is the better team and Kentucky is banged up. What I’m less sure on is State’s ability to keep composure on the road. Didn’t do a great job of that at LSU. I am not sure on Levis’s status. I think I like State by 7 to 10 points regardless. Would be a huge win in terms of what this season’s ceiling could be. The big game is obviously Bama at Tennessee. Can the Vols do it? I actually believe the answer may be yes. I have been high on UT all year and I know the atmosphere in Knoxville will be nuts. This is giving me some Ole Miss-Bama 2014 vibes. I’ll take Tennessee by a field goal… which probably means Bama wins by 21. Lol. LSU at Florida: really don’t have a clue on this one, feels like a coin flip every year. Neither team had been impressive recently. For some reason I I’ll take LSU. Arkansas at BYU - Hogs settle things down and get a nice road win. Should be a very good game, though. Penn State at Michigan - I think Penn State is underrated in the playoff picture, I’ll take them to pull off the road upset. Other games of note between ranked teams: Oklahoma State at TCU, USC at Utah, NC State at Syracuse. Clemson at Florida State is also interesting to me. I'll take Ole Miss to win since they host but OM doesn't win by 15. I like MSU to win in a very close one IF Levis is healthy. MSU blows out UK if Levis is out/playing injured. Bama in a close one without Bryce Young. Bama easily if Young plays healthy. UT is good this year, but not Bama/UGA good I think... we'll see. LSU/Florida... Florida hosts so Florida wins... I guess. I think we could see Dart hit some big pass plays again after they start off running it down Auburns throat. Regardless of if Levi’s plays or not, State has to keep Brown in check. He’s a playmaker. He had 3 touches for 20 yards against SC and 5 touches for 240 yards against OM. I still think State gets the win. Levis can’t be close to 100% if he plays. i think UTenn/Bama all depends on Young. Those Big12 games are hard to pick. TCU appears to be back and OK State has been as consistent as Oklahoma for a while now. I’ll take OSU on the road. USC will now become Oklahoma just a little further west. They will get the rankings and be undefeated, but will blow a game the second half of the season. I think Utah will be it. Brown is awesome, but they don’t use him nearly enough on offense. Only 5 catches in three conference games. I have no idea why that guy doesn’t get 8 to 10 touches every game, he is the most dynamic playmaker I can remember UK having in a long time. The obvious comp for State fans is Tulu Griffin (who also could probably stand to get more touches). At the end of the day I think State wins because they are simply better in the trenches. I expect a bad Kentucky OL to struggle with State’s blitzes and confusing fronts, and Kentucky is also near the bottom of the league in sacks on defense going against a State OL that is playing well. Bulldogs4 Posted October 14, 2022 Share Posted October 14, 2022 As 83 noted, 2018 and 2020 our trips to LEX were disastrous. 2016 we lost on a last second 50+ yard FG. This year, I hope will be different. I believe we will handle the atmosphere better. We actually did fine in BR for three quarters. But we failed to cash in on our opportunities and eventually that is going to bite especially on the road against a quality team. Offensively we need to score consistently even if we have to take a FG here and there. I am glad Leach has confidence in our ability to make 4th down conversions but I wish he would be more judicious in going for it. Defensively, if we can limit the big plays I think we will be okay. Special teams are going to be important. Other than XP/FG’s we have been good there in other facets. As Al Davis used to say “ just win baby” I don’t care how, just would like to get out there with a win and no injuries. Ole Miss takes out six years of frustration and wallops Auburn big. Bama @ Tennessee. This should finally be a good game again. Selfishly I hope it goes to like 4-5 overtimes. I am thinking Young does not play. If that is the case, Tennessee wins. But if he does play, Bama wins. A part of me even thinks if he does play, Bama may blow Tennessee out. No reason other than a hunch. If KJ plays Arky beats BYU. Florida eeks out a win over LSU. TCU over Okie State. Shrader for the win for Cuse over NCSTATE. Utah scrambles the PAC 8 or 10 or 12 or 14 or whatever they call it over USCW. Either way I guess you can’t complain much about a 14 point win if you’re OM. Now we will finally learn exactly how good this OM team is. I had them starting 7-0, most had them at least 6-1. Tank Bigsby 179 Judkins 139 Evans 136 Dart 115 The passing game was lackluster for both teams. I'm still not sold OM will end up top 10 by the end of the season, but I'll take a 7-0 record happily. On both sides. State’s OL is struggling. Rogers has been off. State is basically playing the style UK wants to play, Stoops is perfectly content to win 13-10. I have no idea why he kicked the field goal on 3rd down right before half, though. He had time for one more shot to the EZ and a supposedly “good” QB. MSTSatchmo Posted October 16, 2022 Share Posted October 16, 2022 UK seems to be moving the ball better. Levis is 10-13 for 100+ and Rodriguez has 60 yards rushing. That’s surprising to me. Both teams have sucked on 3rd down and penalties are an issue. UK isn’t a good defensive team, State needs to get something going the 2nd half.
