rebmus
It was a fun week 1 in the NFL. The weirdest stat so far: The AFC South is winless after week 1, and two of these teams played each other. PLENTY of football left to play and it won't end this way... the best two teams in week one looked to be Buffalo and Minnesota.

MSTSatchmo
Seahawks and Broncos. Or Seahawks and Wilson.
Dawg83
Buffalo and Tampa was my Super Bowl pick going into the year and this weekend kinda reaffirmed that. The Saints pulled out a miracle yesterday, scored 17 unanswered in the 4th to overcome a 26-10 deficit. Big game in NOLA next weekend with Tampa coming to town, who the Saints have had a lot of success against since Brady arrived. Dallas looked awful last night and now Dak is injured too. Feels like maybe the Eagles are the team to beat in the NFC East this year.
rebmus
Geno Smith started 13/13 for Seattle and ended the half 17/18. Who saw that coming?
Dawg83
Denver totally mismanaged that game. I’d be so frustrated if I was a Broncos fan.
rebmus
The Chargers had a very good first half tonight, the Chiefs are just too much in the second half so far.
Dawg83
I thought the Chargers were the better team, but the game turned on the 99 yard pick six when the Chargers got in too big of a hurry at the goal line. Herbert is awesome, though. He’s playing at a way higher level in the pros than he ever played at Oregon. But that can be said of several NFL QB’s. Josh Allen wasn’t that great at Wyoming and now he looks like the best player in the league.
rebmus
Brady and the Bucs are 3-5 after tonight. I wish I would have put money on that preseason, I doubt many did. Hindsight 2022 NFL bets few would have made: Bucs 3-5 with Brady back. Giants 6-1 (probably a bigger surprise than Bucs 3-5?) Jets 5-2. s1nglewing
Jets. Biggest surprise. When were they last relevant?

Bulldogs4
Jets were last relevant in 1969 when they were still a member of the AFL, prior to the merger in 1970.
Dawg83
After Week 8, the Falcons and Seahawks are both division leaders. Don’t think anyone saw that coming.

I watched the end of the Falcons/Panthers game. The Panthers scored a TD at the end to tie it with a PAT pending to win. The Panther's WR got a celebration penalty (last name Moore ironically) and the kicker missed the PAT to send it to OT. It reminded me of the egg bowl "piss and miss", just a dumb costly penalty hurting your team. Had the Panthers won, there would be a 4 way tie for the NFC south at 3-5. This year's NFC South looks like last year's NFC East... just a bunch of struggling teams. No idea who wins this division, but Brady leading the Bucs is probably the smart bet... maybe? The Seahawks are a fun surprise after getting rid of WIlson and Geno Smith is TCB at a fraction of the cost. The 49ers seem to be the team putting things together at the right time in that division right now.
pancho
Yea, I saw Moore of the panthers catch the hail mary and then go all out stupid and spike his helmet and get all cool and everything. what a total fool and he sat on the bench smiling ....... Dawg83
Bills are going to be really tough to beat, especially if they have homefield advantage. Right now there definitely feels like a gap between the Bills/Chiefs and everybody else. The NFC is wiiiiiiide open. Eagles are looking really strong so maybe they are indeed the favorites. But I don’t think you can rule out someone like the Bucs or 49ers getting it together and making the Super Bowl.
Bulldogs4
Ironically it may be the opposite of what happened to the Saints years ago when they were 13-3 but had to travel to SEA who went 7-9 but because they win their division, got to host the first round of the playoffs. Biggest joke I have ever seen. Another reason I seldom watch the nfl these days (unless Dak is playing and even then that is sporadic). I do hear enough to know what is happening but just don’t watch a game these days. I do know all the NFCS teams are pathetic and the winner of the division will probably be 7-9 or maybe 8-8 at best. And get to host a playoff game to boot.

rebmus
NFL playoffs are set. Dallas was a game away from being the #1 seed but is the #5 seed. The Cowboy's record gives hope to Cowboy's fans that this is the year for a deep run. At the same time, I'm not overly impressed with how Dak and Zeke finished this season. I'd wager Dallas makes another early exit from the playoffs and would be quite fine with being wrong.
Dawg83
Some of the Wild Card matchups are pretty blah but I think there could be some good games. And I think starting in the Divisional Round things will get really interesting. 49ers/Seahawks - Feel like the Niners win comfortably Jags/Chargers - Could be the game of the weekend, I think I like the Jags at home Bills/Dolphins - Bills comfortably, especially if Miami is still playing their 3rd string QB Vikings/Giants - Giants in an upset, I think the Vikings are frauds, they somehow are 13-4 and have a negative point differential for the season. How is that even possible? Bengals/Ravens - If Lamar Jackson plays I think it’s close, but I like the Bengals Bucs/Cowboys - I have zero confidence in Dallas in the postseason, especially against Tom Brady. Tampa had a pretty bad year but I think they win this. Partially changing my original Super Bowl pick. I had Bills/Bucs before the season, now I think it will be Bills/49ers. But the Chiefs and Eagles are the top seeds and will have a great chance too. Don’t rule out the Bengals either. I feel fairly confident the SB champ comes that group. Purdy going from the last draft pick to taking over the 49ers late in the season to keep winning towards and the playoffs along with getting a playoff win is something else. Jags/Chargers was something else. 5 turnovers by the Jags in the first half and it looked like a blowout was in hand. Lawrence and the Jags came out in the second half and picked up the win. Dawg83
The night capper tonight was a great finish. Unfortunately the TV call was not very good, I’m afraid Al Michaels is definitely showing his age now. I’m a big fan of Doug Pederson and the turnaround he’s done with the Jags has been something else. Don’t see them as a Super Bowl contender but winning their division and winning a playoff game is really cool. As for the Chargers….. Yikes. Staley was already on the hot seat and now it’s scalding. Very good chance that meltdown gets him fired, and could lead to Sean Payton in LA. 49ers are really good, and this is with their third string QB. Purdy has been impressive. If he continues to play at this level, I feel good about picking them to get to the Super Bowl.
Dawg83
One more wild card game tonight (Bucs/Cowboys) but the divisional round is basically set. Chiefs vs Jaguars Bills vs Bengals Eagles vs Giants 49ers vs Bucs/Cowboys Playoffs have not disappointed so far. That game in Buffalo next week feels like must watch TV. I think the game in San Fran will be really good too. Kinda expect the Chiefs and Eagles to win without a ton of issues.
rebmus
Bucs look like poop tonight. Cowboys look pretty good other than the FG kicker, 4 XPs in a row missed? That has to be an NFL record, probably a college record for XP misses in a row?
Dawg83
I kept waiting for Tampa to turn it on all year and they never did. Big win for Dallas. Dak was awesome. That performance changes my perception of them a bit. I think whoever wins the SF/Dallas game next week goes on to win the NFC. Still lean toward that being SF, but Dallas does have the talent to keep this going.
