Good question, the cut off was around 300,R above 300 for all 4 classes you stay 3A, below 2A. Now you have to subtract the senior class. Based on last year's numbers without the current Senior Class Raleigh dropped to around 230 +/- 5 being top 10 2A. If your 9-11 is above say 250 u stay 3A and that is my guess. Region 5 in both classes stretches towards Scott/Rankin/Hinds Counties perhaps or towards Smith/Covington/Jasper Counties. Lets see from what I understand. 7A will be the 24 largest schools 6A will make up the next 24 largest schools and 5A will be the next 24 largest schools. 4A will be the next 40 largest 3A will be the 40 next largest then 2A the next 40. 1A will be what is left. These numbers you have here are 9th--12th grades 2020. The board voted to only count 9th-11th grades in the fall of 2022. And until the Dept of Education posts the numbers 2022-2023 it's not official. The private schools are not posted. The MHSAA has to request the numbers and form for schools to fill out what sports they will be participating in. Then the director will divide by class and regions and present it to the board. Am I understanding EC has an unusually large senior class? I would think that if all the schools dropped the senior the class the numbers would trend similarly.
