Don't disappear like this. You're amongst friends.  We didnt see the game with Petal(yuck) tells us what happened. It's a long season , lots of ways this thing could  play out.

Played well defensively for 31/2qtrs. When our no.2 qb who is our no.1 rb went down our offense sputtered and HHS lost a fumble with about 5 minutes left in the game. Blew a coverage and gave up a long td, but you have to give petal credit on offense for their game winning drive. As for now HHS is probably going to have to play a freshman at qb. We just direct snapped to our no.2 and 3 running backs the 4th qtr the rest of the game vs Petal. Defensively HHS is fine. Tabias Hinton is a freaking stud. Ask the Petal qb about him, as he was in his kitchen all night. 2 sacks a forced fumble a fumble recovery and numerous tackles for him. Non region play was gonna be tough anyway and it now tougher. Not sure how long our guys are going to be out. If our freshman can survive ocean springs oak Grove and Meridian I still feel good about region play if he still has to lead the team on offense.

Well Vott, your freshman QB will get to grow up early and fast playing big boy football.  Y'all still have a full season ahead of you and what happened against Petal shouldn't define the rest of your season.  Hattiesburg will still have a good team and if Vance can get your freshman QB up to speed on some basic stuff y'all can weather the storm just fine.

I think so too. One thing about our 9th grader is when he's throwing to receivers in pregame drills he's got a cannon. That's totally different when you are playing in a game and just playing catch. But yes playing Ocean Springs Oak Grove and Meridian will certainly get him battle tested for region play.

Hattiesburg will be fine. I have no doubts. I loved the confidence I seen in the team. If we can generate points with our QBs being out we will be a serious problem. I'll admit, that QB Petal had last year that moved to WR, he actually is good and it definitely fits his skill set.

i watched this game on NFHS. I thought both Hattiesburg and Petal looked pretty good.

HHS defense was solid.(As was Petals) I know the talk may be about the HHS defensive front but backers looked good .

issue with this team (aside from losing QB1) imho was what it always is...penalties, poor special teams, cramping and injuries.  These are things you can get better at with work but like I  said it's not new. I still think late game cramping is just Vance...anytime he's in a tight game and doesn't have a time out to burn his guys start cramping up and as he heads out there he is barking at the guys on the field and pretty much ignoring the "cramping" guy.

I liked Wade at QB until he got hurt. i know when they lost Vance and started moving people around it affected everything, but there was not much of a running game evident. I credit a lot of that to Petal though. Petals line play was superior - definitely was in the latter part of the game.

Tabias (sp?) is legit. fun to watch a guy like that.

That HHS fumble at the end obviously was the difference in winning or losing that game. Hate that for Hattiesburg!  HHS played a helluva game with the QB injuries none the less. Next few weeks will not be good for the Tigers but will help them during regional play no doubt. Hope they keep positive vibes following those games. My question is will either QB be able to return soon?

I’m glad y’all come back on here. Real talk y’all can go places with that defense if your offense would just hold serve.

I never really went anywhere. I had phone issues over the weekend. If you look at my post of the petal game you will see those issues were resolved by 345 a.m.. LOL. If you dont here from me on here during the season from now until December someone better do a welfare check on me. Whether HHS goes 10-1 or 1-10 I will stand behind HHS.

Vott, I think we need to do a welfare check on the misshsfootball website guy LOL! He's been inactive since November of 2020.

My hope is that by region play, even before. No one really knows. As far as positive vibes, the team will be fine on that front, but if it does somehow gets ugly, which I dont think that will be the case its perfect time for the ruthless fair weather fans to come out of their burrows.

So @Deonte3455 and @Vott what do you think about your matchup this week with Ocean Springs?  Do you think we'll see your freshman QB settle in and get the offense moving?

Playing Ocean Springs and OG will make him better. If he can get in there and make a few plays and get confidence early I think he will be fine. I know Ocean Springs chomping at the bit knowing that they will be going against a freshman QB.

I get that Ocean Springs will be favored in this one, but hopefully Hattiesburg can at least make it entertaining.
