Rebel Bert
If NE is staying 4A then 5-4A will only change if Forest drops to 3A. Then either Richland or Newton County will be added. If Quitman turned in 320 their dropping and same scenario as above. Perhaps Leake Central could come into play. 3A: My projections were Kemper and Enterprise were going to drop. If so then Quitman and Pisgah can be added. Magee will be a stretch. 2A: Do you flip Bay Springs and Heidelberg? DOES Scott Central move up then Pisgah or McLaurin goes to Region 6. If so you have SE Lauderdale, Pisgah, Scott Central, McLaurin and either Magee, St Andrew's perhaps, in play. Union ?? Either way wait and see. Rumor is several 4A, 3A, 2A South each were going down. If so someone goes up.
coastball
My problem with the enrollment process is I'd like to know the verification process used by the state. I would think the state Dept. of Education should have access to the MSIS data used by schools and could pull enrollment on their own with a few clicks of a button or two. I don't feel they should be relying on school districts to turn in "real" numbers as we all have seen examples that would manipulate that process. Does anyone know the process of verification? Chunky6617
I thought they always released the numbers before December, but didn’t release the classes and regions until early December. I always thought the numbers were released in October, and we all would try to piece it all together ourselves while we waited for the official word in December
Rebel Bert
I was told by my brother-in-law that all students schedules have to be turned in by October 1 to MDE. He is a retired coach, teacher, and principal. I am sure this is handled by the counselor with approval and knowledge of the lead principal and head football coach/athletic director. Those student schedules have to be on file in the computer systems of both the school and MDE. MDE only needs to report the 9th-11th numbers to MHSAA. I would think if there is a big difference in what was reported to both MDE and MHSAA then someone is being called by MHSAA. I would think that if a student transfers in or out after October 1 then a schedule is reported to Jackson. I know for a fact that one school has to request student records from one to another during transferring process. Exactly what formula MHSAA uses such as maybe they get a quarterly or monthly report of numbers from MDE I simply don't know. I always heard it was a daily average. If so then that number could be somewhere up and down 10 to 15 students daily due to sickness etc. Other than that I have no answer. I am curious as to how some schools can be at 364 or 240 for 2023-24 and now reported rumors are 320 to and 224. A lot of dropouts, transfers, obviously. I did read where a drop out, a transfer to public or private, out of state, and homeschooling is all considered DROP OUTS. If so it affects your daily average. Rebel Bert
Let's all hope the new State Superintendent of Education is working with and compling with MHSAA and get the numbers certified before January 1. Director of MHSAA may have to pick up the phone if you know what I mean.

Rebel Bert
I expect the numbers for reclassification to be released give or take November 7, 2024. That date will line up with November 3, 2022 release on Thursday before 1A-4A playoffs. This date is flexable.
Rebel Bert
I am hearing Pelahatchie is barely a 2A school. Begs the question where are 15-20 kids coming and going year to year in these smaller schools. This doesn't look good by losing kids and being able to fund schools long term. Kids leaving the smaller schools may rein in the next round of consolidation. Do you continue to lose kids or do you come up with a plan to retain them. Rebel Bert
6 minutes ago, Chunky6617 said: I figured pelahatchie would only be growing bigger Most of the growth has moved to East Rankin. It is the largest in area of Rankin County Schools. It's also the least populated of the school zones. Although McLaurin, Puckett, and Pelahatchie zones but up next to the Brandon City Limits. It's weird but that’s the way it's played out. Part of 18 at Robin Hood goes/Hebron Hill goes to McLaurin. 25 feet in the woods east of Robin Hood entrance is the Puckett zone. Pelahatchie zone crosses 80 and 20 just east of the CoOp on Hwy 80 at East Brandon Exit. Just the way they drew the lines years ago.
Rebel Bert
US News &World Report Data on Schools: Those reporting above 225 or higher for current 2A/3A: East Webster 262 Stays 3A Wilkinson County 252 moving up Charleston 247 moving up Perry Central 237 stays 3A Raleigh 236 ??? should go up Water Valley 233 moving up JZ George 227 moving up Eupora 226 moving up Collins 225 moving up These numbers were reported in 2024 on some date. I will be giving out the 2A numbers only and later. I need to determine if any of these schools will need to remain 2A and if enough dropped to equal out. So they were only off by 3. I don’t know if those Tville numbers are correct though. Would that have Tville close to 2A?
