If this goes thru which i hope it doesnt, I will not like Region 3 6a. Its a weak region after Petal and West Jones and Hattiesburg. And if they still take the top 4 to go to playoffs, you already know who they are just by seeing who the teams are

You would also most likely include the school that is coming from the consolidation of Mendenhall and Magee. They would most likely fit into 6A with their numbers and would be in Region 3. So it bolsters the region a little. Also, it’s possible Pearl could be region 3 as well since they are in the south half now, although they could keep the Jim and Forest Hill together too.

Pascagoula, George County, West Harrison, Pearl River Central, Long Beach, Gautier, Picayune and East Central? Are those the 8 you got?

Not sure where he's getting numbers from. May know something we don't but the numbers haven't been counted yet. Based off the last count (I know you can't write this in stone) the coast 6A teams would be George County, West Harrison, Pascagoula, Gautier, Long Beach, PRC.

East Central, Picayune, and Vancleave would  be 5A. All current 6A schools minus Pascagoula would move to 7A.

This is obviously based off the 24 (7a), 24 (6a), 24 (5a) model and based off the most recent count. Could change a bit but I don't see it changing massively if we're honest.

I think he is pulling numbers from MDE site for the 2021-2022 school year. What you have is listed is what I got as well and posted on the 1st page I believe. 5A actually would be a monster because in the south, you would have Picayune, Wayne County, Brookhaven, North Pike and Laurel. The north would feature West Point, Lafayette, Ridgeland, Holmes County and Clarksdale.

Jim Hill/Pearl will be the split. Pearl located east and along I-20. Jim Hill is located west and just north of HWY 80. Simpson County will not be figured in until fall of 2025 with 2024-25 October numbers. I look for the school to play 1 year independent/Mendenhall schedule.

21-22 numbers 8th--11th grade which will be next year's 9th-11th grade. I took the split roughly from last year's numbers roughly #18-30, #40-55, #65--80 just to see. You have to figure the rest will be what they are for example #1--17 will be in the top 24. There were a few changes up and down. It's going to all pan out. It would be nice if they get the October 2021 numbers and post them. In the past if a school only includes 10th-12th grade and 9th was middle school. One of those numbers was counted twice to get 4 grades total.

Only 9-11 or 8-11? 8-11 would make sense.

I thought it's always been 8--11 which will be 9--12the next year. The problem may be that most 8th grades are middle school and it takes extra time to get numbers. Technically all you would have to do is fill our a form and fax it in with the numbers. You have to trust the numbers.

No. It's always been 9-12.

The handbook says 9-12 grade as of October 1. I agree that 12th grade shall be graduated and not count. 8th grade should be counted. However, in Jackson alone different middle schools feed different high schools. May very well be that way in other districts. Some kids may split off into different high schools.

That is correct, which is why you  can't do 8-11.

I was told there will be two votes over the next 4-5 months and then a final vote done in October. Anyone know if that is factual?

My guess is if a proposal was made then it has to go back to district meetings for a vote. I am sure a final vote on the 2023-25 handbook changes will be taken before reclassification can be put in order.
