13 of 14 SEC teams are bowl eligible

It was a dud of a game. Doesn’t change my opinion that next year can be a good one for State. They have to get the two tackle spots figured out but otherwise return a lot.

Some people will get really worked up about it and call it an embarrassment. I’m a little more neutral on it. It is what it is. You were missing a bunch of guys and got whipped. It happens. Get better in the offseason. The highs and lows of the Mike Leach experience are what they are. You hired Mike Leach, you are gonna get Mike Leach. A lot of good comes with that but there will be some stinkers here and there.

It won’t hurt my feelings if State never plays another game in the Liberty Bowl.

South Carolina & Purdue are two of the very few games that I have picked correctly. I am mostly sucking on my Fantasy picks (12-14 to date).

Tennessee did improve during the season but they have no defense.

Bama, Georgia & Ole Miss win

UK, LSWHO and Arkansas lose.

But what do I know?

The Music City and Peach bowls were a breath of fresh air, two exciting finishes in what has otherwise been kind of a dull bowl season.

Honestly I could see the SEC only ending up with 2-3 bowl wins. I feel pretty good about Arkansas over Penn State and Bama over Cincy, otherwise everything is at best a toss up.

I lean Penn State/Arkansas is a toss up also.

Agree on Music City/Peach bowls... good games.

Bama is winning fairly easily, no surprise there.

Cincy would have contended for the SEC east and would have finished  anywhere from 2nd to 5th in the SEC west.  Secondary guys are very good but they can't cover and do all the tackling for the entire game against a quality team.

Cincinnati played hard and well.

But Bama is like Jack Nicklaus was in golf. In his heyday, Nicklaus almost always birdied the first hole. Same thing with Bama. First drive, they ran it down Cindy’s throat and had a 7-0 lead. Game over.
Yes, the Bearcats battled but Bama puts so much pressure on by almost always scoring first.

Bama was never remotely in danger of losing the game.

Michigan-Georgia-did not see that coming. Thought it would be a slobber knocker with UGA winning a close game. But not a blow out that was not even competitive for one quarter.

I know the nabobs will say “I told you so” but I have the upmost respect for Corral for choosing to play in the Sugar Bowl and not quitting his team like so many other quitters have done.

I would want him on my team.

Corral is one of my favorite Ole Miss players ever, there is no questioning his guts, leadership, or will to win.

Hopefully the injury doesn't cost him money in the NFL draft. IF it does, it's a prime example of why players opt out. I'm not a fan of opting out, but I sure get why it's done.

I hate to see that for Corral.  I have no doubt the way OM’s defense was playing that OM would have blown Baylor out with him playing the whole game.

I wouldn’t think it is an injury that would cause him to drop in the draft.

Altmyer shower some ability, but he was playing against a very good defense.  Baylor is crazy physical.

Altmyer was in a really tough spot and didn’t do terrible against a stout defense. He looked like a guy that can be a quality QB down the road.

It may not always be pretty but Dave Aranda is a heck of a coach. He will have a high profile job soon.

Still a very good season for OM. Really stinks to see the Corral injury, and I commend him for not opting out. The future for Ole Miss is interesting for sure. New faces in several key spots next year and most expect a little bit of a step back. They will be an interesting team to monitor as long as Kiffin is there.

The in-state dynamic next year is very interesting to me. State had a rough finish to the year but return upwards of 18-19 starters. Ole Miss has been the better team the last two years but they do lose quite a few key pieces to say the least, and will have a new OC with some question marks surrounding him.

I don’t totally know what to expect but football in this state is far more interesting than it was 3 years ago. Thankful for that.

Now that it's all said and done, man props to Aranda's defense. He played old school hard-nosed power football. Baylor's QB didn't look good and couldn't throw. It was basic hard nose run the ball and playing good defense. Even with Corral I think this defense would've given a lot of issues. Appears to me that a huge flashing warning sign that Ole Miss has to bring in a top-notch recruiting class, to maintain this success. With all the talent going to graduation and an unproven Charlie Weis Jr. as OC; it'll be a very consequential off-season for the Rebs.

Baylor's DL whipped Ole Miss' OL all night. I lean Corral would have squeaked out a win had he been healthy the whole game, but there's certainly no guarantee of that.

Almost all the talk has been about Kiffin, Lebby, Corral, the offense all year... Durkin and the defense deserves more credit than they have gotten. Scoring D was dead last in the SEC last year and 8th in the SEC this year. That's an impressive one year turnaround.

Altmyer showed some promise for being the next QB at Ole Miss. I thought he did very well considering how little he had played as a freshman and had to come in against Baylor's defense in the Sugar Bowl.

OM’s defense no doubt did a 180.   They still lack depth, but they are physical and fast and Campbell made a huge difference in the middle.  However, I couldn’t get over how bad Baylor’s offense was.  They were no threat to pass.  OM didn’t have to play the pass at all.

Altmyer showed some real character not hanging his head after the pick 6.  It looked like he was in for a long night, but kept battling.  The missed FG was huge.   The game went from what would have been 10-7 OM to 14-7 Baylor shortly after.

I think this game showed that Corral was probably the most important player in the country to his team.  With all the talent OM had offensively, when he went down they stalled pretty bad.  Of course it was against a very good defense and they were pretty conservative with Altmyer to begin with.

SEC will finish 6-9 in bowl games, 5-8 in bowl games before the coming NC game where 1 will win and 1 will lose.

4 of the 5 wins came from the ranked teams. Ole Miss was the only ranked team to lose.

South Carolina was the only unranked team to win a bowl game, every other unranked team lost.
