SEC is 0-2 in bowl games so far.

Army beat Missouri last night 24-22.

UCF beat Florida tonight 29-17.

Some would argue the SEC is 0-3 because A&M should be considered a forfeit, I wouldn't argue against that.

The funny thing is: I’m pretty happy about both games.

If you have Army vs the team that is the least SEC of the SEC teams. I was definitely going for Army.

I was also rooting for Gus Malzhan, a man who got replaced by a potato head from Idaho. As an Auburn fan, Harsin pissed me off this season and was very happy to see our former coach beat Florida.

The days of 40+ Bowl games are coming to an end IMO.

I predict a 16 team playoff with the first round games being hosted by the higher seeds. Then the final eight games using the seven biggest bowls for their games.

Rose, Fiesta, Cotton, Sugar, Orange, Peach, Gator &/or Citrus Bowls being the most likely.

Then there will be true old fashioned bowl games for 20 deserving teams that are just outside the playoff. So an additional 10 bowl games.

With all these cancelled bowl games somebody is eating a lot of losses. In the future fans are not going buy tickets for a game that may not happen. Add in players quitting their teams, players transferring, coaches leaving or being fired then the only path forward I see is a total revamp of a broken system.

With the above scenario, I think you will see less players quit as all the games (even the bowl games). will be important. More fans will attend the playoff games as well as the bowl games a because you should have some great match ups.

A win - win all the way around. Plus much money to be made overall too,

COVID is just a symptom of the problem and a convenient excuse for teams to weasel out of losing a bowl game …. oops I meant play in a bowl game.

The bigger problem is players quitting their team or hitting the transfer portal. Throw in coaching turnover and the current system is completely BROKEN.

A ton of money is being lost every time a team decides they are quitting too and not playing a game.

In a day or 2 there may be even more cancelled.

I noticed the Military Bowl (Boston College/East Carolina) that was scheduled for today was cancelled.

Wasabi Bowl (SMU/Virginia) is also cancelled.

Hawaii Bowl was cancelled.

Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl and Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl have 1 opponent each TBD. Those may end up cancelled also.

State apparently will have some key contributors out due to COVID (mostly on defense apparently) but it looks like the game will be played tonight as expected.

I really have no idea what we will see in this one. At full strength I expected State to win in a rout, and it could still happen I suppose. Based on the way Leach has talked this week I think he may try to run up the score. But the opt out and COVID absences are a concern, how can they not be? Can State protect Rogers with Cross not playing? Can a short handed defense put up a respectable showing? We will certainly find out.

Still think I like State to win but think it may be closer than I originally anticipated.

dont know if this affects the sugar bowl, but i got this today from tulane

In line with city of New Orleans guidelines, Tulane Athletics will require proof of documentation of a valid COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR/antigen test within 72 hours for all attendees over the age of twelve (12) to all Tulane Athletic events. (Note: Beginning on January 3, 2022, the proof of vaccination or negative test requirement will be expanded to all fans age five (5) and over.)

Also in line with Tulane University guidelines, masks are required to be worn at all times during indoor events unless fans are actively eating or drinking.

Now games can make you look foolish, but I’ll give it a shot.

State 34 Tx Tech 24

OM 31 Baylor 24

Bama 38 Cincinnati 14

Michigan 24 UGA 20

As good of a guess as any.

IF MSU had everyone playing, I'd easily bet on them to beat Tx Tech. I still thing MSU beats TT, but it may well be a very close game... or even a TT win.

FWIW, betting odds for SEC games left:

MSU -10 over TT

North Carolina -9.5 over South Carolina

UT -5.5 over Purdue

Bama -13.5 over Cincy

UGA -7.5 over Michigan

Arkansas -1 over Penn State

UK -3 over Iowa

Ole Miss -1.5 over Baylor

Kansas State -3.5 over LSU

...............

Auburn was favored in today's game, we saw how that worked out.

I'm not sure who was favored in the Florida and Missouri games.

MSU D struggled early, but has played very well since.

The offense only having 7 points against TT? Geesh.

Both starting tackles out and lost a guard to injury during the game. Not to mention State has generally been a bad first half team most of the year.

State obviously has not looked very good but they are clearly not a team at full strength. Multiple true freshmen that have barely touched the field all year are playing a lot currently, We will see if they have enough to find a way to win.

I am glad we played. Props to Tech for being the better team by far tonight.

You just suit up and play the players you have and see what happens.

Tonight was ugly.

I still predict the end of the current bowl system going forward. With all the players quitting after the regular season. It has become a total joke this year.

I had no idea State has so many players out.  I just knew of Cross and Emerson.

Tech probably would have won anyway if everyone was available for State based on how much more prepared they seem to be.

I thought it was more also, during the game it showed both teams had 2 players opt out of playing... Cross obviously for MSU and also including the best WR for TT.

TT is also using an interim coach for this game, I didn't realize that either.

SEC is about to be 0-5 in bowl games, not a good look.
