What these playoffs have shown this year is you better be on your A game or get upset by your opponents. 1A havent really had any upsets yet, but will this be the week? But Simmon ain't play nobody. Taylorsville still got problems on the line. Just don't got the players there. Defense be playing good cause they ain't give up but 8 points in 1A. greenandgoldhawk Posted November 15, 2023 Author Share Posted November 15, 2023 (edited) Its probably safe to say that the Taylorsville vs Hollandale-Simmons matchup is the most competitive and interesting matchup in 1A this year. I think Simmons will take this one in a close one being at home. BTW- Simmons representing Washington Co and the Delta is my pick to win 1A upsetting Velma Jackson and getting revenge on Biggersville playoffs lost from last season in the state game. I think Resurrection- Velma Jackson is the next interesting one. I believe velma jackson will win but Resurrection style of play will limit the amount of possessions and possibly be the lowest scoring game velma jackson has had so far. I think Vardaman and Baldwyn is a toss up but favors Vardaman. The game is in Baldwyn though and Baldwyn have had more of a challenge as far as opponents so they will be in a higher gear. Vardaman really hasnt had a challenge since the start of the season and will have to turn up a notch to keep their season going. As far as Biggersville vs West Lowndes, I think the luck of playoff draw and matchups will run out for West Lowndes. However, West Lowndes is know for having unusual large size for a 1A class. I think this game will start off slow but pick up for Biggersville as they route West Lowndes on the way to the north half title. Simmons is really good. They are hard to measure because they typically dont schedule a tough out of district games. They usually schedule money games. BigT Posted November 16, 2023 Share Posted November 16, 2023 Maybe they should schedule teams like Taylorsville does as none district games, 4 of the teams Taylorsville played are still in the playoffs going into the third round,of those 4. Raliegh, tca,Simpson academy, west Lauderdale..2 are playing for state championships tca and Simpson academy, mize,Magee and bay springs all lost in the second round ,Taylorsville always schedules bigger tougher teams for their none district play and for the first time since the third game of the season, they're back healthy! Out of their district play and playoffs they've allowed 8 points in 5 games! I don't know how the Simmons game will turn out ,but it's not gonna be a cake walk for either team! I believe Taylorsvilles brutal none district play will come into play in this game and they will pull it out like they did in Hamilton last year...it's just gonna be a wait and see I guess!! I will say if Simmons starts off slow like they did last week against Sacred Heart, they’ll dig themselves into a hole they can’t get out of. Taylorsville and velma Jackson will be a much better game than people think,vj has played some larger classification schools and beat them ,but those schools aren't very good and aren't typically, every team Taylorsville has played is in the playoffs, 2 are in the third round, two are playing this weekend for state championships and three went out in the second round! Taylorsville went 2 and four in none district play ( all bigger schools and could have possibly had a better record if not for injuries) but were in every game! They're finally healthy again and have allowed only 8 points in 1A play! I look for a great game against Simmons and believe they will pull out the win by a couple of tds! Just my thinking for what it's worth! It's a shame, but one of two good teams will have to hang up those pads tomorrow night and get ready for the basketball court!
