You can’t keep going down this road. If you’re 1-7 in SEC play and your only win was that monstrosity last week, you might as well have gone 0-8. Defense played well in the second half to give us a chance to get back in the game. Just did not take advantage of our opportunities. Simple as that. Auburn likely gets there now with Vandy, Arkansas, and New Mexico State left. State getting to 6-6 likely comes down to Kentucky next week. Lose that one and I don’t see it happening. Wright did not necessarily play bad today but it was not winning football. He had the one bad pass for the INT. And of course we missed a TD in two different plays by mere inches. This is a big emotional game for UK and next week maybe a tough sled for them depending on how this tilts in the third/fourth quarters. That first and goal getting "cute" by putting Pegues in to get a false start was dumb. It was followed up by going even more backwards and luckily getting a FG out of it... very lucky it wasn't a turnover returned for a TD. Putting Pegues back in to take a snap again on the following drive was even dumber. I'm all for letting the big guys having some fun IF/when? the game is late and a blowout. I don't like that crap at all in the first half. Dart made a huge mistake trying to force a pass that went for an INT right before half. Let's hope he learned from that. You’re going to go into November with a dozen or so teams that still have a very legit shot to get in. This is not the USM team of the early ‘80’s with Collier, Winder and company. If USM plays way over their head and State sleep walks, State will still win an ugly game…35-20. USM’s defense is not the nasty bunch from 1981. They would have trouble stopping a good Juco offense. The last two games they have given up 100+ points to two average Sunbelt teams. State has won the last five games against USM. It will be six in a row after November 18th.
