Ole Miss is starting Nikhazy tomorrow. I'd be curious to know what the resident OM fans think about that, I personally think it's a bad idea but I'm obviously not in a position to make those decisions.

I'll predict a State/Vandy championship. If both can win their Wednesday game with midweek pitching, I like their chances to get to the final with the combination of MacLeod/Bednar and Rocker/Leiter.

If I had to guess it’s his bullpen day and he will get a couple innings in and  come out so he won’t go so long without game action?

I'd rather Nikhazy not throw at all this week, rest his arm.

As long as he doesn't throw long tomorrow, I can see it... I guess.

Winning or losing tomorrow won't make a hill of beans difference when it comes to seeding the regionals.

Auburn could be but I tend to think that UGA, USCe or LSWHO might be the dark horse teams.
They have the most to gain from the SECT.

I'll have to pick Arkansas to win it. I'm just not sure how serious Arkansas will try to win it considering they're most likely the #1 NS no matter what happens.

It sure wouldn't surprise me if someone like USC up and won it though, it could really help them in the regional seedings. USC probably isn't hosting a regional as of right now, but would definitely host if they won the tourney. Florida is a good darkhorse pick also, Florida may well be a NS if they won the SECT.

I think I’ll go with UT vs Vandy with UT winning based on absolutely nothing.

I was looking at the SEC team stats and thought it was interesting that Arkansas, as dominant as they’ve been, doesn’t lead in any of the major categories except HRs.

Elite power hitting team, elite defensively, and an elite bullpen arm that they haven’t been shy about going to early and often. Those things have been the difference for them all year.

Nikhazy throwing today is a but curious. But he did pitch on Thursday so he has had four full days of rest. I would agree that he would probably be a strict pitch count today. For OM, I think winning a game or two helps your overall psyche even it does not help your seeding.

In a lot of ways, this conference tournament is wide open. It really depends on how your higher seeds play. For State, it would be an ideal time to give some pitchers some opportunities to throw in pressure situations. Provided we win a game or two while also getting the regulars some innings in as well.

Often times one of the middle of the pack teams gets on a run and surprises everyone.

In any case it is a great showcase of baseball. Probably more MLB scouts in Hoover this week than anywhere else except possibly Omaha during the CWS.

Florida beats Kentucky in the first game in Hoover so they'll play State tomorrow morning. UF threw their Friday night guy today and is throwing their Saturday guy tomorrow, who has truthfully probably been their best starter the last month or two. Given that State is throwing midweek arms and doesn't have a ton to play for, I'd probably give Florida an edge in this game. I like State's chances better with MacLeod or Bednar on the mound but we won't see either of those guys until Thursday and Friday (if State is still playing on Friday).

Bama put out USCe today 9-3.

USCe was most likely on the wrong side of hosting, I'm pretty sure they'll be a 2 seed on the road next weekend now.

This helps solidify OM hosting next weekend win or lose tonight. This is also more of a reason to make a last minute change to not throw Doug tonight.

Do you all think LSU is out or in?

Losing record in the conference and out in the first round of the SECT. Plus the overall record is nothing to write home about. I think they are on shaky ground right now.

The LSU coach didn’t sound to confident.  Lol

Teams on shaky ground typically get in over others based on name.

I think LSU gets in. If you look at how strong the SEC is, that certainly helps LSU on top of their name.

LSU's fate will depend on how many upsets there are in conference tourneys. Right now I would say they're probably in but that could change by the end of the week. It's not ideal to be done playing so soon when you're on the bubble. Other teams in contention still have opportunities to pass them.

Florida crushing State in the early game. UF hit State hard the first 2-3 innings and that was all she wrote. Still think State is capable of winning a couple of games this week with MacLeod and Bednar. But the quest to find a #3 starter continues.

At least Cerentola pitched an inning without giving up a run.

Not surprised that we lost but disappointing to get crushed.

UF certainly had more motivation in this game and it showed.

I was thinking Coach may have considered playing some of the backups in the field today but it appeared that our starters were in for the most part.

Bama on the verge of playing themselves into a Regional, they take down Tennessee in extras. State/UT in an elimination game tomorrow morning, and I believe both teams are throwing their Friday night guys. Should be interesting.
