But, shouldn’t we consider West Jones the best team in district 3, or did their 2-0 snoozefest win knock them down below H’burg?

Defensively they are dang good. But their offense is sketchy. If a team is able to get 21 on WJ they could be in trouble

You kinda have an answer since Hburg and GC have played a regular season game.

If that's the case you might would have another slobberknocker if Hattiesburg and George County have to square off again in the playoffs because neither team was able to win that ballgame in regulation.

I'm glad you decided to chime in.  This should be a good game for y'all.  What do you think George County will have to do to secure a win in The Kiln?

Play defense like they've been playing but eliminate the turnovers. The turnovers have really kept other teams in games with GC and I'm talking like multiple turnovers. I think against Hattiesburg they turned it over around 5 times and the same can be said for the Wayne Co. game.

Wayne Co's only TD in regulation was a pick 6, Biloxi won by three scores and all three scores were special team miscues on punt (bad snap and a block) and another pick 6 by the offense. Otherwise GC wins the game 14-13 with their 3rd string QB. Defense has been dang near close to lights out. The turnovers have put them in bad spots and there's even been a few KO returns for TDs on them this year.

Bottom line: Continue stellar defensive play. Eliminate turnovers. Continue to run the ball and don't get fancy/cute. Take advantage of the superior athletes and speed and let them play. GC can win this game convincingly IF they do these things. Just got to do them. The coaches have done a good job with the gameplans. I think it boils down the players holding onto the football.

I feel their offense is physical enough to keep the ball from GC and their defense will get a few more stops than GC defense will do.

It's been a long time since Hancock beat George County, like 30 years or 31 football seasons.  Maybe they get it done, but they'll have their hands full in doing so.

I finally made my pick today on this matchup.  It'll be a great one to see for the folks that will be there.  With that being said, I just couldn't pick against George County. I have no issues with Hancock whatsoever, but in order for them to have gotten my vote, they would need to be up on the ladder a few rungs and right now they just haven't made that ascent yet.  I feel like George County is probably on the first rung at this point, so that's why they got my vote.  Let's see if George County can climb up a rung or two tonight.

I wouldn't say this matters much, especially as far as recent history goes. 1. They haven't played consistently in the last 30 seasons. 2. The last time these two teams played their seniors were in the 6th grade.

You're right about that.  It doesn't matter at all, but it's a stat that's out there.

This was a good football game. Both are tough

I gained a lot of respect for both teams, but especially Hancock for coming from behind to make this a close game at the end. Both will be a problem in the playoffs, even if they don’t win the division championship.
