It's getting close to region time so it's time to step up being uncomfortable.

This is the south portion

My partner is attending to other matters and will add his part in the thread if possible.

 

 

 

I watched Gulfport and Petal play the other night. Good game to watch because of the coaches. It will be interesting to see where both go from last Friday.

But my takeaway is something that I finally put my finger on about Petal. It’s been a long time since Marcus chose family over titles so it’s not that. It’ those dame uniforms. I can’t stand the red color and stupid red panther. It imparts heat. Like I’ve got a fever or wind chapped face. Your players probably feel a little sick too after putting them on. I know the Panther defense has always played that way/ Like they had a flu fever.

I think they should consider changing it. It could help them get over the hump.

 

I rag on Stone County a good bit. Mainly because they more than anyone have benefitted from the sorry region created by Hathorne and his buddies. More than that though do they even have a rival ? Do they even play on Friday nights ? It’s like trying to find King Solomon’s lost mines trying to get any info whether they won or lost , who did they play etc. Plus in the history of histories I can’t recall them getting more than one playoff win in a season.It rubs me wrong that they can’t rep our region any better either. The region is already bad Stone makes it look worse.

 

Diberville has a chance this season to finally stand up to that abusive spouse. I don’t think they will.  They used to throw the ball. They used to be dynamic and have fast players.  I will go out on a limb here and say they will be 7-0  going into the Gulfport game only to lose yet again. Petal knocked them out of the playoffs last season 14-3. Three measly points against a team that views defense as optional if the opponent scores ten points. I don’t think your coach is that good and I don’t even know who the guy is. Has he ever had a big marquee win ? That district is growing by leaps and bounds and they should be planning on taking a seat at the big dinner, Are they ?

 

 

I just realized this is all coast teams. I rolling with it anyway. There’s a lot more season and a lot left to say.

I wasn't impressed with D'Iberville.  Typical stuff ... they'll be the two seed and get waxed in the first round by a Region 3 opponent.  Walley throws well enough but they don't have a dynamic running back to balance out that offense.  Pascagoula's defense fatigued (this will be a common theme given how inept the offense is) and they scored a garbage TD in the closing moments but, otherwise, it was a competitive game for almost three quarters.

I agree with most of this. I think d'Iberville got a little "too cute" as they say in the first half and missed on several passes, including a few that would have put them deep in Pascagoula territory instead of focusing on their bread and butter. In the 2nd half, they just decided to run it down Pascagoula's throat and that coupled with how bad the Panther offense was - ran the 'Goula defense down. d'Iberville is a good football team, but that is about it. Nothing I saw from their game with Pascagoula says they will beat a region 3 team come playoff time - especially not Oak Grove, Brandon or Petal.

Speaking of Pascagoula, I will go ahead and pencil in Picayune as the no.1 seed in Region 4 6a. But will PRC get the no.2 spot this season and Goula the no.3?

Honestly, I do not know if that region has ever been as wide open as it is right now. Picayune, Pascagoula, PRC, Gautier and Hancock are all capable of making it, or being left out. Even Long Beach is 3-1 right now.

I can agree with that.  For now, there doesn't appear to be a clear front runner.  If Picayune finds a way to beat Poplarville Friday night, then I think it would clear things up a bit.

I wouldn't doubt if there wasn't tie breakers involved. They all have different flaws so it's impossible to predict

I'm just wondering where @wpgreenwave51 and his goons went to after running me through the mud about defending their old staff that they "ran out of town" and "put them on the hotseat".  Looks to me like they may have been a little more "qualified" than expected. It's going to be a sad day in paradise this Friday when they get hot clocked by Tupelo after having 2 weeks to prepare. I'm betting they will show back up after they closely beat Pontotoc and then the bacon fries in hot grease when Lafayette finally beats them in their double wing offense that has scored 200+ points in 4 games. 

 

Gulfport/Petal may come out of the South but it wont matter because Tupelo and their recruiting coordinator need a raise. Tupelo by fifty on whoever comes out of the South. After Friday night and seeing them play I am positive that their QB could call plays and their MLB could call defense and they would win by 3-4 TDS. That staff needs to get on the bus, keep the kids out of trouble, limit injuries in practice and enjoy the ride. All they can possibly do is lose the game. The have STUDS EVERYWHERE.

 

Warren Central is in the same boat as Tupelo in terms of being the definite front runner and I have more confidence in their staff to keep the train on the tracks. 

 

In 4A its Kosy and Louisville and then EVERYONE else. Is it October 9th yet because that is the only game in 4A north that makes a difference.

So who do you see being Warren Cental victim in 6a and KOSY'S or Louisville victim in 4a south?

I couldn't even guess on 6A south other than the perennial winners down there being Hattiesburg and Picayune? 

 

4A south is also a huge mystery to me. Columbia and Poplarville are the only 2 teams I have heard about
