Bulldogs4
Generally speaking they put more emphasis on the regular season than the conference tournaments. We will see.
Dawg83
State softball wins! On to the WCWS! What a performance this weekend as HUGE underdogs. They’ll open with Texas Tech in a few days. Unreal accomplishment.

Bulldogs4
What a great weekend for the Ladies. Not only did we take down the best, we did it convincingly today. Delaney Everett with a masterpiece 3 hit shut out against the best offense in the nation. No fluke just outstanding play on the field , at the plate and in the circle. Just tremendous!!! State will host a Regional in baseball. Committee values the regular season over the Tournament and your OOC games are crucial to being a host. That’s gotta be one of the more out of nowhere performances in State history in any sport. Everett had zero starts all year and only thrown like 12 or 13 innings out of the.bullpen…. And throws a complete game shutout to send her team to the World Series. Unreal.
Bulldogs4
Sort of out of nowhere. She had a really good year in 2025 but this year battled some injuries and the death of her father. Aa you note, she had only pitched 13 innings but she was no rookie either. Worked out great for State. In baseball and softball great pitching will often times beat great hitting. Plus our defense was superb yesterday. That throw from CF to nail the runner at Second in the first inning was a great play and also contributed to us keeping the momentum after we went up 2-0 in the top of the first inning. Dawg83
Ole Miss with a really interesting draw in Lincoln. I think Nebraska is a beatable 1 seed, but they got a really tough 3 seed in their first game with Arizona State. Certainly would presume you’d want to throw Elliott in that game. Should be a very competitive Regional, but yes I do believe OM certainly has a chance to win it. No SEC team in Hattiesburg shocked me a little, but I’d argue that may have been preferable for USM….Virginia and Jacksonville State are both very dangerous teams in the 2 vs 3 game. Curious to see how that one shakes out. I think State got a pretty good draw if I’m being honest, but you’re at the stage where everyone is good so certainly need to play well this weekend. Got a 4 seed in Lipscomb that you should be able to beat without using Valincius, the two teams already played a three game series this year and State swept it pretty handily. Regionals are a blast, looking forward to it.
Bulldogs4
We swept Lipscomb three games earlier in the season but the first two games were competitive to a point. And as we know you have to win game one first. Jax St & Virginia are both really good but I am glad to see some different teams in Hattiesburg. Ole Miss should make hay in Nebraska. Dawg83
I would probably start Duke Stone on Friday. Allows you to save Valincius plus one of Stone’s best outings of the year was in that Lipscomb series.
Bulldogs4
Coach Oak said that McPherson threw 80 pitches in a simulated game Saturday with no issues. Hopefully that bodes well for us.

Hope it’s not too little too late, but he could certainly be a game changer for State in the postseason.
Bulldogs4
Stone, Valincius and McPherson would be my thoughts on the rotation. If we can’t beat Lipscomb with Stone starting then we are not winning a Regional.
David44
In the Hattiesburg Regional, you could make the argument that Jacksonville State is the real 2 seed. In team ACC stats, Virginia finished 9th Pitching, 14th in Batting and Fielding. I guess that 1st round top 10 pick CF carried them, but in their last 20 games played they went 10-10. USM will have their hands full though with Little Rock. LSU went 10 and 1 last year thru the tournament to win it all. That one was Little Rock. I think OM has a great shot at Nebraska. Them and AS are both no doubt better offenses than Nebraska, and OM has more power arms too. Miss State in a good spot also, getting a really weak 4 seed and probably saving Valincius for game 2. Winning the 1st 2 allows you win the whole thing in 3 games, which can hide a bullpen somewhat. Lose one of the 1st 2, and you will have to play 5 to win it. Vott
I know all the attention is on the regionals this weekend. But william carey is two wins away from winning the NAIA World Series

Dawg83
Stone announced as the Game 1 starter for State. Presume we will see Valincius on Friday and then McPherson for a Game 3 (assuming they don’t go 0-2, I guess).
Bulldogs4
WC has won three straight in the NAIA WS. They have a great chance of bringing it home. Hopefully they will finish the job. State Girls lose 8-0 to TT. Tough day but our ladies are resilient. Hopefully they will bounce back tomorrow and get a win against Texas. William carey game tonight is huge. If they win they play Tennessee Weslyan in the championship. If they lose 3 teams are left with one loss each and carey cant receive the bye because they have played fewer games than the other 2 teams. They played great the last two weekends but looked totally overmatched today. Which is kinda what I incorrectly believed would happen in Norman. We were definitely overmatched today but tomorrow brings another day and we will see what happens.

Vott
2 hours ago, Bulldogs4 said: WC lost so presumably they need to win two games to win the NC. Yes they did unfortunately. There are 3 teams left now. And due to WC staying in the winners bracket and playing the least amount of games they have to play Tenn. wesleyan to get to the title game. On the flip side due to Taylor University losing to WCU on the first day of the world series and coming thru the losers bracket and playing the most games, they get the bye to the title game tomorrow night. Vott
Southern Miss should never host again. They play way better on the road in the postseason.
