NoWammies Posted September 13, 2023 Share Posted September 13, 2023 (edited) I just can’t see Oak Grove’s defense only giving up 21 to Hoover on the road and giving up more to MRA at home. Hoover’s offense is better than MRA’s. I think Oak Grove got their hiccup out of the way last Friday after coming off a huge win and will be on a mission this week. Defensively I watched a Pulaski QB move the ball up and down the field with a cinder block like cast on his hand while also missing passes on wide open long balls that I don’t think Maddox misses. Not to take MRA likely cuz I do think they’re a very good team I just don’t think they have enough to keep up with Oak Grove if Oak Grove plays up to their full potential. It’s the only real chink in the armor I’ve seen. That and offsides or false start penalties. The DL has been dealing with conditioning and lil injury nags. The LBs are just straight up not executing well for 4 quarters. If anyone asked me as a fan what I’m worried about the most it would be that. If Oak Grove has a weakness stopping the run and is out of shape, as Dubaction suggests, I guarantee that MRA will try its best to make Oak Grove defend the entire field and exploit these things. I believe MRA will score points. It will come down to how well MRA can defend the pass. That's where Pulaski and Parklane successfully attacked MRA. Oak Grove surely has seen this on film. They’ll keep it close for a while and I will also add in you probably won’t see a better coached team. They have essentially become Prep over the last 6-7 years. The QB is legit and is going to pass Dylan Favre this year to set the all time state record in passing yards. I don’t know how or why but it used to be MRA would get kids from MC and NWR that couldn’t start at the big schools but now they’re taking starters. At least 3 from MC and 2 from NWR that I know of. I was about to say to you the other day would you rather have 2 pages of knowledgeable discussions or 4-5 pages of stuff like this haha? Yea the days of good discussion on here has def lessened but I’ve realized a lot of the smaller school threads are just trash talk while the upper classes are more of in depth discussions.
