Bring back Will Taylor to football in some capacity,  It got rough during the battle to drive Hathorne out but the kid got used as leverage against his mother . He played for for WC and needs to be part of the revival . Now that the cancer is gone everyone that''s willing needs to play a part. Get him back in the field house. 

There is another that was coaching at Clara that was straight up lied to . He's coaching at WA now and is a big part of their turn around. At least give him the option of coming back at some point and right that wrong.

Will is a really good dude and the kids like him. He was really thrown under the bus for no reason. Coach Mason is the one from Clara he’s at WA and seems to be very happy there. His son is a young coach at Buckatunna now. I really like the head coach at Buckatunna would love to see him on staff

Yes that was him Mason. I talked to him last summer and was relly impressed . I didn't know that was his son at Buc,  Those kids executed football better than the high school in recent years.

It’s difficult to even put into words what a breath of fresh air what pound has brought to the football  building. You feel the happiness just radiating being around the kid .It’s hard to imagine the results aren’t manifested immediately.

 

Hearing Corey Reynolds was hired as the scapegoat coordinator at Laurel for when they fail. .  They just got worse, lol

Heard that Pappy Buttermilk Jack Hankins is also joining the Laurel High Football coaching staff!! Sounds like he’s trying to get his 8 years vested in PERS!

Hankins in Laurel ?  You thought it was a bad breakup with him at WC just wait until this plays out. Laurel needs defense not a leather helmet offense reject..

Yeah laurels collapse will need its own thread.  The last 3 years was only the beginning.  The weakness of 5A south as a whole has “helped” mask the reality of the situation as they only have to win 2 district games then 2 playoff games to make it look like they are ok. But they really aren’t.  If not for the creation of 7A and the resulting split off of Hattiesburg, west jones, picayune. Etc etc into 6A Laurel would have had at most 3 wins and no playoff trips since 2022. Keep in mind since ‘22 they made a run to state in ‘23 and south state last year.

Are you saying they could possibly make another 5a playoff run this season and still be a bad football team? lol

Yep.  
 

They have had some internal struggles themselves going back Todd Breland leaving (there are reasons why he left and went to South jones) that have gotten “fiesty” the last few years. Some of it relating to their own recruiting efforts.  Some volunteer coaches that think they better than paid coaches (the phrase “too many chiefs not enough Indians” is a good description). They lost 3 long time assistants including the guy doing most of the recruiting and the head coach was said to have interviewed for several other head coach openings, so obviously he may also see the writing on the wall.  At least half the returning starters are wanting to transfer to other schools and this comes direct from one of them. 
 

But still their district do bad the can get into the playoffs with 2 wins and then who knows.

So its more of an internal thing than the team not having any good athletes?

Yes.  
 

However a decent portion of the athletes are actually not originally from Laurel. And a number of them as well as done from within Laurel now are trying to get out.

Hattiesburg went to jim hill and forest hill on back to back thursday nights last season.

If Merlin had replied North Jackson I would have told him to tell someone at WJ to see if they could change locations even if they had to play on a Thursday Night. Knowing Jim Hill has no true homefield advantage no matter where they play. Like I said last season, that field needs to be taken out of the rotation of games being played there.
