5-0 (3-0 in SEC play) with a win over currently # 4 LSU.Ā
With the number of players Ole Miss lost from last year’s team- I felt repeating 9-3 was the ceiling. This team may well fall short of 9-3, but I like our chances of possibly winning 10.Ā
Ā

State giving Tennessee fits, MSU has a legit argument for most improved team in the nation this year.

Ā

This team has the talent to go undefeated if the defense keeps improving each week. As Ole Miss fans we also know this team could lose to Washington St out of the bye in two weeks.Ā

Hats off to Ole Miss, missed a lot of it but seems like they had a great defensive effort and were clutch enough on offense to seal it.

Ā

Heartbreaking loss for State. They were one or two plays away from an unreal win. Spent every ounce of gas in the tank on that one. Just didn’tĀ have enough left in the last 5 minutes in OT to beat a playoff contender.

Ā

This State loss felt so much like State-LSU 2009. In so many ways. I think there is a lot to be hopeful for, but no doubt this was a tough L to take.

State game went about like I thought it would. We played well but I was afraid we would either not have the horses to win it or that we might run out of gas at the end. Unfortunately for us that is what happened. But we are so much better this year overall. I think we have good things coming ahead for us. Though this will be a tough one to bounce back from. Our players are 110% committed and that is the biggest positive. You never want to lose. I am disappointed but not disappointed in our players. They left it all on the field. At the end of the day that is all you can ask of your players.Ā
Ā

Ole Miss with a heck of a good win today. Actually felt like a bigger win than 5 points. They were clearly the better team.Ā
Ā

I called the Bama game. I just knew they were going to win it. I predicted 28-27 so I was close. And I knew they were going to stop Georgia before the play was even run. I could sense it.Ā
Ā

Oregon beat Penn State. Same there. Just knew it was going to happen.Ā
Ā

Lot of great games today.Ā

One bad turnover on the 2 by Lee, 14 penalties for almost 110 yards and a bad read by Chambliss when he should’ve kept it and got atleast 10 yards made this game look a lot closer than what it felt.Ā

It was like every single fluke type play went LSU’s way. I can’t think of one that went ours. Even the bad read by Trinidad was tipped and was as close to being caught as it was intercepted. He did have open field in front of him but I can sure forgive him for that. He has been outstanding to put it mildly. As for the penalties, yeah we had way too many. I will give LSU credit from some of our holding calls though because when you have guys that athletic you are trying to block holding is dang near the only option sometimes.Ā

Ā

P.S. - surely there is some sort of nickname floating around for Trinidad Chambliss because that’s way too much to type out every time. Ha.Ā

State getting a lot of respect from AP voters still, just outside of the Top 25 even with the loss.

Ā

I don’t feel great about the A&M game next week, especially with how banged up State is coming out of that game. But that three game stretch following State’s bye will be huge. Florida and Arkansas are certainly winnable, Texas at home is a maybe?

Ā

Speaking of Arkansas…. Pittman is officially out, and the Motorcycle Man is back in charge.

Agree about State. Injuries and a tough emotional loss plus a difficult road game are going to be a lot to overcome. The bye week will come at a great time after this game. A&M is good but again they (like most of the upper echelon SEC teams this year) are not unbeatable. How we play will be most telling. If we lay an egg, that will be most disappointing. I don’t see that happening though. A win , though unlikely, would be huge.Ā

I would actually say you’re getting little respect from the AP voters because yall deserve to be in the top 25. Especially seeing as how Arizona State has found their way back in it.Ā

State is still overcoming the doldrums of 2023-2024. Win and will be ranked. Rankings are not just about the current season or even the current week for that matter. There are more of a cumulative view of a team over the recent years. Then with each game during a given season, they will slowly correct themselves.Ā

Also, I am not sure if this was covered by Lebby. But did he mention what we would have done had we scored a TD in OT?

Ā I feel like it was obvious we would have gone for two and try to win it there. Our defense was gassed.Ā
Anyone else know or have any thoughts about that?Ā

Most of the time at home you play for the tie and OT but in this particular case, going for two would have seemed to be the right decision.Ā

Yea that’s the same thing I told a State buddy this morning. If they actually went off what they’ve seen on the field THIS YEAR yall would be in the top 25.Ā
