greenandgoldhawk
This is the last week of non-conference football before district play. The last chance for teams to work out some of the kinks as next week everybody is 0-0 looking for a path to the playoffs. Some paths chose were harder schedule against tougher, larger classification. Some paths were more for team development and rebuilding. Who has been a surprise so far? What matchup(s) this week is interesting to watch? THURSDAY West Lowndes at Hatley FRIDAY Amite County at Salem Biggersville at Alcorn Central Byers at Thrasher Calhoun City at Shaw Coffeeville at Potts Camp Falkner at Tupelo Christian French Camp at Ethel Hamilton at Smithville Leflore County at Greenwood McAdams at Riverside Mount Olive at Stringer Noxapater at Eupora Okolona at Nettleton Pelahatchie at Sebastopol Puckett at Bogue Chitto St. Patrick at Resurrection Simmons at Leland South Choctaw (Ala.) at Richton South Delta at O’Bannon Taylorsville at North Forrest Vardaman at Water Valley West Bolivar at Northside West Lincoln at Enterprise-Lincoln West Tallahatchie at Ashland Edited September 23, 2025 by greenandgoldhawk

Money05
Add and circle Taylorsville at North Forrest. Taylorsville is dying to gain any sort of positive after a rough first 4 games. North Forrest is far from a push over though, and they’re looking to gain confidence as well going into district play. Another game to watch is Noxapater and Eupora. I’m also curious to see if Salem can get back on the right track after getting dominated by Stringer.

You don’t have the athletes to run the spread right now. If you were in a double wing or wing-t you would have more success. Keep the chains moving, eat up some clock, and keep you in the game longer. You have a chance at a win this week.

It should be a good contest
Rebel Bert
Taylorsville only has about 200 fans at games now. And that's a push, more like 150 at most. There is something terribly wrong down there. Those boys need support in the stands. It can't be more than 10 years to consolidation time I suppose. NoWammies
The same thing that happened to West Bolivar is happening to Taylorsville. It’s not beyond realization that a powerhouse can turn into the complete opposite over time.

If I am not mistaken the coach left Rosedale and later ended up at South Panola University as some called it. Then the district became 2 schools. Taylorsville is more of internal conflict from the office, students and teachers leaving, etc, etc. It probably didn't help with crap at Superintendent office along with the supervisors shifting the supervisors and school board beats around. Taylorsville proper moved west, Shady Grove moved west, Burns moved east and Sumerland moved north. I think Taylorsville went from 2 board members to 1. Mize now has 2 which 1 represents Taylorsville. It has everything to do with western third of the county outgrowing the rest of the county. Its very similar to Jefferson Davis County. I just do not think Raleigh school building can hold all the current Taylorsville students if it comes to consolidation some day. I can see Center Ridge, Mineral Springs, and New Home kids going to Raleigh, the rest to Mize. But man its going to be an uproar.
Bender20
We a D rated school now and we ain't got no ball so when we hit that F rating they gone consolidate. They keep bring in all these terrible leaders and teachers all our good people got run off by the county people & they don't hire our good teachers when they try to get a job done been a bunch of people and that why no support no more cause they piss off all the families here. They kilt the school in the only place in the county with jobs and that was on purpose. Them jobs gone leave when ain't no school and this county dead. Coach Johnson left to go to Clarksdale after his son graduated. West Bolivar faced the same internal conflict early on as Taylorsville is facing now. Tville has gotten some good teachers the last couple years. There’s only so much they can do. The problem with Tville is the community… or better yet, the adults. The students have just been bad. There’s no accountability at home. Consolidation ain’t coming to smith county, but I wouldn’t be surprised if eventually in a few years Taylorsville becomes an elementary and middle school only, and then they split between mize and Raleigh once they get to high school. I just wonder how much space is available at Mize and Raleigh. Will Taylorsville be Pre K thru 8th or PreK thru 9th. 9th to avoid over crowding at Raleigh or Mize. Maybe Raleigh Jr High goes back to the elementary school or you have 30 kids in some classes.
