I don't think folks believe Taylorsville is going to struggle all that much - especially considering how utterly watered-down 1A is currently.

They will struggle in non region games. Resurrection, Stringer, and Lumberton will give them trouble in Region play. Taylorsville is not the old Taylorsville. They certainly do have talent but they are young in some areas. It will take a few years to get back to where they want to be.

I think Lumberton and Taylorsville are usually mirror images talent-wise.  Resurrection is well-coached but has struggled with numbers recently.  Stringer is also well-coached, but until they show a product the jury is still out on them... some of the teams they've scheduled makes me wonder whether they're really up to snuff yet - Park Place,  Salem, Wayne Academy, & Mount Olive.

If you have a team that is "all that ", those wouldn't be considered competition.

Looking for easy wins. Not good

1A is currently weaker than tea. Some of the powerhouse schools (Weir, Durant) are gone and some others have struggled with numbers amid shrinking enrollments.

Only 5 classes would help but since it's not on the table, 4 regions of 8 or 9 teams would help the situation.

Stringer is trying to build a program that knows how to win. They have not had a winning season since 2020, and before last season they had 3 2 win seasons in a row. I think the soft scheduling was done to build confidence going into district play. As stated above Region 7 is pretty tough for 1A at least so trying to rack up wins and team confidence makes sense. Scheduling a team that was 8-Man in 2024 and 2 0-10 1A teams is kind of taking soft scheduling to the extreme though. They are not going to be “all that” as far as from a talent standpoint, but they will have the coaching and mental toughness to make a lot more noise than people think they can. Curious to see whether it pays off for them.

Not anymore Taylorsville ain't nothing but a playoff team they ain't winning big no more but 1A so bad they be fine until thing get better maybe.  Just ain't talent no more like it been and ain't enough people left to support it.  Even youth ball having a harder time getting the kids now and it use be a big deal

Taylorsville has enough talent returning to be good again this year, but there are a couple things that really could hurt them.

Number one, their depth. They have none. Their 1’s will be good up front on both sides of the ball but they do not have much depth anywhere across the board. They cannot afford any injuries and they will have to be in very good shape to last for alot of their games, especially their early games in the hot weather.

Number 2, losing Trey Barnes was a huge blow. If Clark stays that will help, but if he leaves for Hattiesburg like some have mentioned here that will really really hurt. They are going to have to rely heavily on the run game as it is.

Youth registration is a problem everywhere. Kids aren’t playing ball like they used to

Clark isn’t going anywhere

I'm really interested in Ethel this year.

Adam Smith started something there and Coach Graham knows a whole lot of football, too.  Might be a sleeper to keep an eye on.

Their division is tough. They may be decent, but I doubt they get higher than a 3 or 4 seed. Nanih Waiya will be really good this year. They bring most of their team back from last year plus they picked up a running back from Louisville that got some reps there last season I heard. Leake County and Noxapater will be solid too. Sebastapol also moved down to 1A and is in that district. Not really sure what they have coming back, but I know their best player graduated.
