Brandon at Madison Central

It seems to be the week when most of the top teams are playing out of state or inferior teams. Who you got between Madison Central, coming off of a last second win over Ocean Springs and a good Brandon squad that lost to my #1, Picayune?

Name the other competitive games that I’m missing and your predictions.

Not trying to derail the thread here, but Picayune is going to be in for a war against Catholic.  Picayune is going to need all hands on deck so to speak.

Not derailing the thread. Give us your thoughts. I just realized that a whole lot of the top teams are playing out of state teams, including Picayune vs. Catholic, Oak Grove vs. Hoover, and Ocean vs. Scotlandville. Maybe the thread shoulda been about the big state vs. state matchups.

Just rename it Top "Big Boy Football" Games of the Week Sponsored by "Eat your Wheaties" LOL!  There's a lot of big matchups like that this week.  I think Picayune, Oak Grove, and Ocean Springs are all in similar boats this week.  All of our Mississippi Teams need to have the mindset as tough as last week was (with the exception of Oak Grove), it's only going to get tougher this week.

Catholic is outstanding. I am looking forward to having them come to Picayune.

But it is not all hands on deck "so to speak". we need "all hands". i will be shocked if we hand the ball to one back 30 times in this game and leave with a victory and a healthy back. hopefully 4 and 5 will be well and involved. we are gonna break a great player who plays both ways  if we run him every down on offense all season long.

and if we kickoff the same way as last Fri, don't be surprised if Catholic charges on the ball and keeps running straight down the field with it. They watched the Brandon game too.

Tide dealt with injuries and sickness in first game of the season against a very good team and they got it done. big props to staff and team for that. offense and special teams must move past what we just saw.

I was wondering why we were so vanilla against Brandon.  But you are exactly right Tib.  If we run #6 to death like we did last Friday things won't look so good for us down the road.  If that wasn't by design, then Lord help us.

Never heard of Scotlandville. Are they good?

I think so.  I don't think they are as good as Catholic and this is basing everything on results from last year (so that doesn't really mean anything).  Ocean Springs may have a little bit more of a reprieve, but they are still going to have to bring their A game.  Both Catholic and Scotlandville are in the same district with Zachary.

Like 06 said above, they are in a pretty good district around Baton Rouge, and lost big to BR Catholic last year. They play some New Orleans area schools that we have seen in the past, like Edna Carr, who knocked them out of the playoffs last year. Our outgoing athletic director last year scheduled O.S. with a tougher early schedule, with NW Rankin and Picayune on deck. Good way to learn against better players before getting into district play.

Kinda off topic but I think OS and NWR will have a great game next week. NWR looks a lot better than last year offensively and the qb was throwing some dots. Can't wait to see how we do against them this week.

Northwest Rankin beat a tough Germantown team at home last week.  Let's see how they do against Clinton this week playing on the road.  If Northwest Rankin pulls off a W at Clinton, you might be on to something.

Yeah, all these games could be toss ups until O.S. gets their offense on track. One player in particular injured in the spring could be back soon to add speed to the offense along with some really good defense that forced turnovers against MC, but couldn’t knock down a couple of Hail Marys when it counted. NW Rankin and this week will be critical, since they’re not beating Picayune.

Picayune will roll this week, a lot of confidence beating Brandon

Catholic will be a lot tougher than you think.  It's a different animal we are playing this week.  They beat Zachary 24-21 last year and only lost to John Curtis in the playoffs by 3 with that same score.
