NoWammies
With the Dandy Dozen being selected yesterday, I’d like to know of some guys you think are underrated or not mentioned a lot. I thought about this topic this morning while looking on Mississippi High School sports page this morning. I saw a highlight reel of Picayune’s Amarion Tyson and now he’s one of my favorite players to watch. I see Oregon and State have offered, but definitely surprised he doesn’t have more offers. Could it be because he’s 5’6 playing LB? The kid has a motor that doesn’t stop and a hitting machine. https://fb.watch/mcJeEdJWRr/?mibextid=BKVZaU
Poundtherock
I’ve seen him play 4 times. Straight dawg. I understand some big schools passing on him bc of size but he ought to have offers piling up from other schools. coastfootballfanman
He is a ball player. Sadly, size will keep him from attracting the attention he rightly deserves. He probably translates more to the hybrid safety/outside linebacker a lot of defenses use these days and even for that position, he is probably too small given the average sizes of those players. However, make no mistake, he can play. I told some folks in the stands as much talent as Picayune has, he is the best player on their team in my opinion. I see him as a JUCO superstar and a guy who will have a chance to dominate at the FCS/D2 level. He is one of the best high school linebackers I have seen.
maroontide06
It's probably a similar situation to Darnell. He's a fantastic football player and great guy and Darnell will be playing for Seth at the River this fall. Darnell is about the same height, but plays like a bull. Amarion is cut from the same cloth.
NoWammies
The kid reminds me of a high school version of Brian Dawkins.

Anywhere from Oxford is a drive, but it's probably going to be the closest for you. You might as well come see the Maroon Tide play on opening night at Brandon. Man I’d sure love and try to make that game but unfortunately I leave back out on the tow boat Tuesday and won’t be back home until Sept 5. We play Ocean Springs at home on Sept. 22nd. Everything else after that is geographically south. There's just not a speed train from Picayune to Oxford LOL!

If I were a coach and saw him play, there’s no way I’d walk away saying I don’t have a spot for him. I’d get him on the field somewhere. The kid has some of the best instincts I’ve ever seen. From their perspective, he is small even for a cornerback, let alone a linebacker/safety type. They would not be able to justify taking him over another kid who is say, 6'0 200. They feel they can find kids bigger than him that can do what he does. It happens every year to amazingly talented kids and those kids typically end up being multi year all-Americans at the lower NCAA levels and some even make it to NFL. Measurables for a lot of kids will get your foot in the door with minimal production. Long Beach had a linebacker some years ago that broke Richie Brown's career tackles record. He was a machine! However he was about 5'7 185 and ended up going NAIA I believe. Devin Wayne was his name maybe? I just remember he was legit and could play. NoWammies
Coastfootballman, same thing happened about 10 years ago in the delta at West Bolivar with William Lloyd. He was considered undersized at LB and was overlooked because most attention was on Dandy Dozen Kailo Moore. Lloyd went on to be starting LB for EMCC winning 2 championships then going on to start 2 years at Troy. Since then he’s been winning championships overseas. Merlin
West Jones LB Rase Jones. Played some RB last year when injuries knocked out the main 2 backs. Edited August 4, 2023 by Merlin
