Since we have a North one

7a - Brandon vs Gulfport (Toss up)  Could also be OG or OS

6a - Picayune vs West Jones (Picayune)
5a - Laurel vs East Central Honestly I don't have a clue. Maybe East Central
4a - Mendenhall vs Columbia (Columbia) (Toss Up)

3a - Noxubee vs JDC (Noxubee)  Could also see St. S and Hazlehurst
2a - Bay Springs vs Raleigh (Bay Springs)
1a - Velma vs Taylorsville (Velma)

Just guessing on some of these.

Here's another thing to consider:  Region 3-6A probably won't be settled until the final weekend of the regular season.  West Jones will travel to D.I. Patrick stadium to take on the Hattiesburg Tigers.  If that particular ballgame doesn't decide the region 3-6A championship, then I don't know what will.

If that does not decide it, a major major upset happened somewhere.

3A South I think will easily be noxubee county. Jeff Davis County should be in the mix and I think SSC is expected to be good this year.

2A South will be either Bay Springs or Mize.  Raleigh will be good but people just don’t understand how much they lost from last season. Not only do they lose Perkins who was a generational type talent, they also lost like 9 starters on both sides of the ball. They will not be what their fans are expecting them to be, but they will still be pretty good. And they should win their region. Scott Central is another example just like Raleigh, except their fall off will be bigger.

1A South will be Velma Jackson followed by Taylorsville. Nobody else will be at their level.

Why didn't the MHSAA make an exception and leave Noxubee in the north?  I guess they wanted all the regions to be even, but even that philosophy is trash because region 2-7a and region 3-6a are both comprised of 5 teams.  (Thank you Murrah and Jim Hill)

One area where Bay Springs will struggle will be on pass defense. We played them in the spring, and also in a 7 on 7 this summer and torched them through the air. They obviously are pretty young in the defensive backfield.

Yeah they young in secondary but, you  not going have time to throw it that's the point. And I don't think Mize have those type of athletes at the wide receiver position. But that's my opinion

Well if we don’t, then y’all gonna really struggle against an offense that does. Tville does, but I don’t think they are that strong on the lines

Delta teams move south this year.  Simmons and McEvans be in 1A South now.  Going be tough for Tville.

Bay Springs will boat race Mize.  That be a beat down.  BS front 7 will eat Mize up.

You must be smoking something if you think Mize will win the south.

You cant use spring games and  7 on 7 to judge how good you will be in the regular season; Bay Springs has D-1 players and a Dandy Dozen DL; Bay Springs will blow Mize out when they play regardless of how well Mize passed the ball in the Spring and in 7 on 7. And like the other guy said Mize doesnt have the type of athletes to have a potent passing attack like Taylorsville. Mize is as slow as molasses.

You’re the first prognosticator to have Gulfport near the top of south state. What have you seen that makes them able to take a step up to the championship game? Anybody else?

Same thing I said in the north one.  OG is the easy pick.  Anyone can pick them.  Let's throw a wrinkle or 2 in there.  OG probably should win it all

Oak Grove has the most talent in 7A South, and I’m not sure there is anybody actually close to them.  They have more college-level talent than anybody in the state.

Brandon may be just as good offensively. No one is stopping the RB. I look to see him get 2500yds this season rushing

We struggle a little bit at but , Taylorsville don't like to tackle. I think Taylorsville will make  plays down field against Bay Springs but, I also think Bay Springs will control the line of scrimmage against T ville. It should be a epic game
