I heard this morning more families leaving Taylorsville that been here a long time they moving to Stringer.  Stringer and Mize and West Jones getting all these Taylorsville people.

Yeah I think Tville is about to see a mass exodus of people. A lot of teachers and coaches are leaving, but they have filled alot of those spots already. Wouldn’t be surprised if Adrian is the only coach who is currently at Tville that will still be here next season, in all sports.

So what does the school board when Taylorsville drops to 125 kids in high school?

A- Struggle like Mt Olive

B- Stop transfers out of County now

C- Send 9th-12th grade students to Mize/Raleigh  on some split line.

D- Just carry on

Oh yeah what family. You are getting bad information. The teachers that are leaving are from the west Jasper area and do not even have kids. What about the kids that is moving back in. No one is mentioning that.

Where are the kids coming from. Looks like yalls former elementary principle turned W Jasper Superintendent sent some bad teachers to yall. Maybe things are looking up.

If I was Taylorsville and I do mean Taylorsville the city, Summerland, up 531, Mineral Springs, Fellowship, north of 28 and west of 37, a portion of Center Ridge should have a town meeting. You should do something now before it's too late. You don't need to put in the hands of a few in Raleigh along with the Superintendent and board of education. So far that I know of it hasn't been mentioned at a board meeting.  But losing kids and teachers is a tail tail sign that there is a problem.

Nothing you can do about this situation. The mother is the basketball coach and she’s taking a job in Petal. Can’t blame her for taking a better opportunity. Anybody else would do the same.

Is the program at risk of not having enough players to field a team? I definitely don't think so.

They got enough players but if they lose the good ones ain't much talent. Agee working real hard and that good to see so maybe he get going he a good guy

He going to have meetings with some of those parents that are sending kids to Mize, Sylva Bay, West Jones, and probably Raleigh. Those kids especially in Jr High and Elementary School need to return for the future.

Without paying tuition, the only way someone can live in Smith County and go to school in Jones County is to have a parent work in that particular district.  That would be a good bit of folks forking over tuition at a public school.

How long will it be, based on attrition, before Taylorville combines in with Mize and Raleigh, and the east half goes to West Jones?

My uncle told me it was never discussed at the school board. He is now off the board. My guess is it's never going to happen until Taylorsville drops to around 120 students in high school, Mize and Raleigh both drop to large 1A. It will be in critical status then. Sylva Bay is now playing independent football in MAIS. Obviously part of their problem is the numbers are not there. They will be in 8 man this year. I believe if you consolidate all 3 high schools  it will have to be 10 thru 12th only. Raleigh can't handle all 3 and the Junior High in that building without being overly crowded. There will be no discussion of Consolidation in the near future. Taylorsville simply needs a change of culture with a goal to grow back into a small 2A school. They will then be ok. Too many people will be looking to move into the Raleigh zone if Rankin County. continue to push their mobile home  policy. That policy has been reversed for the moment by the supervisors. No mobile homes over 7 years old. You can't have folks that can't afford $500,000 homes and $100,000 mobile homes continue to live in one of the better school districts in the state. I am sure part of the issue is to keep certain folks out of Rankin County. I was told over a year ago that Florence has over 500 permits waiting for new homes. Taylorsville and Smith County has the same problem that Bassfield and Prentiss had a few years back. No jobs and no jobs coming soon because of positions sitting on their ***. Georgia Pacific quit providing homes for athletes families has been mentioned. It's simply caught up with Taylorsville's demise. The new coach has an opportunity to go out and get some of those kids back over time. Bringing in outsiders to teach and coach hasn't helped. I have said a mouthful now.

Hillman run off everybody from Taylorsville and brought in nothing but problem.  Like I say ain't got nobody on the board that care about Taylorsville. Power Company won't hire people in the same family no more and bring in people outside area.  GP still do a lot for Taylorsville but all they is is what they been.  Ain't even no mayor here neither.  All them babtis kids go out out town after they get older. Taylorsville ain't never coming back when it own people turn they back on it.
