Taylorsville head coaching job

I saw the video and pictures shared on coaches page on Facebook, definitely bigger than last year! Hope Clark stays but it's his decision!

I heard that if things are not corrected soon at Taylorsville with low tests scores, crime in town, teachers leaving the district will have little choice but to make hard choices. I told the person you have to get rid of the crooked sheriff.  Then get rid of school leadership.

I don’t think that’s bad enough to justify any drastic moves. The musical chairs with teachers is their biggest issue

2025 scores according to MDE

Taylorsville K-12 C

Mize K-12 B

Raleigh K-6 B

Raleigh  7-12 C

Math and reading scores are the problems at Taylorsville.  The state will no longer promote from 4th grade to 5th grade with certain scores in reading. They don't break it down by grade. Not sure where the issues are in what grade. 

Taylorsville scores: Math 54, Reading 24, Science 94.

I heard that the sheriff's not running again , because of the heat he's been getting because of the way he's handled things and his wife is fed up with the talk...I have no idea if it's true but have heard that from different people! And you're right about the administration in tville,the superintendent needs to get off his tail and do what his job requires, we got rid of one who was causing problems and now the new one hasn't been a big change that we all hoped he would be!

The sheriff has 3 murders on his hand has failed to investigate each one. He has ruled all 3 accidental. End of case. He needs to go. 

As for the low scores there is a problem. Obviously if the students aren't doing what they need to do preparation,  focus, and apply themselves then no teacher or principal can expect higher scores. If its the teacher or principal then they need to go.

What can the new superintendent do? The damage to Tville has been done, and it was a decade in the making. The only thing I can think of that he could do is to fire the entire administration at Tville that’s been there since their downfall started. But I get the feeling if he were to do that, the town of Tville would then accuse him of racism. When you talk to people in Tville, they say the problem is the principals at Tville not allowing the students to be disciplined. Well, the principals there the last several years have been two black females. If the superintendent fired those two black females, how well do you think that would go over in the community? The new superintendent has given them more money. He hired the local Tville coach to be the new head coach to help rejuvenate the community. He’s given them almost everything they have asked for. Sooner or later the people in Tville have to take a long hard look in the mirror.

Taylorsville has to rebuild its town. Too many vacant homes. The people have got to move back home after college or where ever they are moving too. If that doesn't happen then in the next 5 to 10 years there will be some form of consolidation. My guess is a new high school for Mize and Taylorsville located somewhere between the towns along hwy 28.

Hillman brought in a black female to be principal from Covington County. The female principal there now i can't say where she is from or her skin color. All i know is what ever is going wrong needs to be corrected starting with increasing numbers and getting back to 2A. Never leave it hands of the school board.

It doesn't matter skin color, if they aren't doing what's best for the kids they need to go,and that is the superintendents job! I personally know the superintendent and he's a good guy,but he has a job to do and skin color should not be an issue!

I agree. But if he fired those people, how do you think the majority of the people in Tville would respond to that? He’s given them pretty much everything they have asked for in just one year. The only thing he hasn’t done is fired the holdovers that were there from the previous superintendent. If he fired those people, what do you think people in Tville would do?

Would it be different if the superintendent was black and had to fire a white principle? I'm sure most of the people wants what's best for the kids and school!  Would you keep a principle at Mize that was black if they were dragging down the school because you were scared you'd be call racist? If Taylorsville had great scores and had good leadership who would care about skin color? I know i don't, I could  care less about skin color just as long as they helped the school! I9 know some great black teachers and  some great white teachers i also know some not so great! The bottom line is what's best for the kids!

Again, I agree. But while you may not care if certain people are fired, the rest of Tville probably would. And I don’t have a dog in the race. I just see what’s going on from an outsiders perspective. I know a lot of stuff that has been allowed to happen at Tville the last 10 years would never have been allowed to happen at mize. Disciplinary wise

Taylorsville ain't coming back no matter no way all them people ain't coming back even youth sport got bad and kids left it to.  It like somebody left the gate open and them horses done left the barn and gone.  Taylorsville High School ain't coming back and business in town dying to cause everybody gone the county lost a bunch of people

Then you have to ask how much longer can you pay x number of teachers/administration and keep the doors open. Seems like to me some sort of consolidation within 10 to 15 years down the road. It doesn't seem right to have to travel from Sumnerland or New Home to Raleigh or Mize to go to school.
