Why would they need to go to a wing style offense. Only lost 1 lineman 1 running back 2 wideout 1 quarterback

You just answered your question. They lost RB, 2 WR’s, and their QB. But they still have their OL. They could control the LOS, and play ball control on offense. Ball control offense would really benefit them, especially considering how thin they are depth wise. It would help their defense. If they still had Beavers, Dre and Reco, of course they would still be spread. But those guys are gone and the JV guys are not on that kind of level. Barnes won’t be able to do it all on his own.

They still have three wideouts returning as Will as the Booth kid that could play the Tight end spot. Could they be successful running the pro style spread. I know he played for Coach White and he is retired now anyway he help him during his first year. Also will the OC be back.

Barnes don't care bout football he gone play baseball missed first game this year playing baseball.  He be QB next year unless they move cause they almost did this last year.  You don't see Ducksworth, Agee, Booth, Autry, Page on that field no more still got Keyes round here but the rest bout all done but some kids around kin each other.  Won't no sport be no good after this year for a long time. Nothing against Coach Agee, he a Tville guy and do better than that cat this year

Just because a kid missed a game for another sport doesn’t mean he does care. The kid went to Boston to play baseball against some of the best players. Just in case you didn’t know you get into teaching and coaching high school because you want to help kids succeed in life.

They could still do well in a spread, but I think the power run would still need to be their main offense. Like Mississippi State used to run in Mullen’s first couple seasons. I have heard the entire staff is leaving but I don’t know if that’s true.

Because you can win big running that type of offense in any classification but guys won’t run it because of fear. Scared it won’t be accepted by players, coaches and fan base, but I will tell you what they will accept….. winning.

You are 100 % correct but remember who you are dealing with...parents. They only think about their child and they feel spread is the way to go because that's what the colleges run. They are ignorant to the fact that if you're child is good they will get attention regardless of scheme. Winning doesn't factor in to their "plans", only my child's stats.

Barnes and Clark both committed already and ain't nothing else there.  Barnes gone play baseball at USM and Clark football at Jones. Ain't one single player else gone play after high school.  Town people done gone so don't matter what they run ain't 100 at the game no way.

Thats ok. He was pretty tough. You also have Booth who could play some RB. Tville will have some pieces for a good starting 11. It’s all gonna boil down to depth, which is something they just are lacking right now. The drop off from their first string to their backups is a really big gap.

That is the case in most 1A programs.

Effective July 1, 2025 as voted and passed by the school board:

Taylorsville Elementary PreK to 6th Grades

Taylorsville High 7th-12th Grades

Mize Elementary PreK to 6th Grades

Mize High 7th-12th Grades

No longer 1 principal over PreK to 12th Grades. That was Hillman's way of controlling the teachers and schools without hiring extra needed principals.

SO this will allow them to eventually keep the PreK at the two towns and eventually open a consolidated high school if they want to. Both towns would have an elementary school with a consolidated middle and high school opened somewhere in between the two but I don't know if the county would have the money to build a new school and if the two towns would ever let this happen even though it may be for the best and the only way for them to compete and keep kids from going to jones county.

What they need to do is figure out why people have left Taylorsville and fix it. I totally understand if their going thru the process of people leaving for better schools or getting married and living in Hattiesburg for example.

How close is the county schools to consolidation in some form. Whether that means a new high school for Mize/Tville along 28, Tville high students sent all to Mize or split between Raleigh/Mize, or 1 county high school by building a new Middle school at Raleigh to avoid over crowding.

Consolidation is a long long way away for smith county schools.

Mize does not have a problem with keeping people. We are trying to keep so many from coming. Tville is having trouble keeping students.

All I know they have left for Mize and Raleigh both. Other schools like Sylva Bay probably are getting some. It has to be the leadership in town and at the school. Last time I was in Taylorsville I saw quite a few for sale signs from 28 to 35 up 37. I thought myself over half the homes may be for sale.
