Running the football

All them teams got multiple D1 players except maybe Raleigh.  But they got the best one in the State.  MS run so much wing still.  Starksville throw it round and Scott Central do too.  Noxubee throwed it all over Raleigh, they just got no defense. WO throwed it on Picayune half the game.

The best defenses been winning to me.

North teams really don’t see much Wing T until the Championship game. It’s very common offense in south 1A-5A. Balanced attack if the best if obtainable.

And Passing offenses have dominated 2A since 2017

No they haven’t. Taylorsville and Scott central were just far superior athletically than everybody else since 2017. Scott Central lost to Bay Springs… who runs the wing-t. The numbers don’t lie, rushing teams dominate the state more times than not.

SC and Taylorville have dominated 2A. In 18 SC did it on the ground. And Bay Springs is superiority talented too. Find me a team playing this week that doesn’t have great talent.

I believe I said “balanced attack” you ever seen the look of confusion and frustration on a wing t teams face when the defense across from them is whipping them up front or when it’s 3rd and long. Corinth in 2019 great example of a team that was balanced.

The only thing I could add to this conversation would be that I would take Scott Central’s passing game in Wayne County in a heartbeat. That’s the kind of system our athletes are suited for.

Nope got to run it every play.

I agree.  My biggest complaint with the spread that’s ram at west jones is that it’s very predictable when we are going to run out it and it’s not very difficult to stop once we do.  Requires a rb with great vision and ability to break at least 1-2 tackles to gain anything at all.  And we have only had that type of rb a handful of years in the last 20. And times we do have they tend to spend more time at lb than rb. This is a very big part of the reason we tailed off the end of 2021 and this year.  If we had a rb this year we knock out picayune in 2nd round.

And the rush teams are beating the passing teams. And they beat them to get to the championship games more times than not as well. If you have athletes, you will win with a wing offense. If you don’t have athletes, you will minimize your losses with a wing offense.

Literally 3 of the 6 champions were balanced attacks with the ability to run and pass. 2 were wing T and 1 power I. There is no magic potion, if you got athletes you can be successful in any offense as long as you coach them up correctly.

if the opposing teams DLine is better than your OLine it’s going to come in handy to have some balance. I’ll take a balanced offense over air raid or wing T any day of the week.

At the college level I agree. Any level below that I’m going run heavy. Your odds of winning increase being run heavy at the high school level. The numbers don’t lie. And if you don’t have much talent, it increases your odds even more. Not just a wing offense, but any run heavy offense. The wing is just the most popular. Wing-T, double wing.
