Championship weekend

Boise State won 21-7 to punch their ticket to the playoffs.

Arizona State won 45-19 to punch their ticket to the playoffs.

Beck was injured at the end of the first half and was trailing 6-3. Backup QB takes the first drive in the second half for a TD. 10-6 UGA now... we'll see if UGA can get the auto bid. I highly suspect they're in either way but they'll get an auto bye/top 4 seed if they win.

Non playoff related conference championships:

Army beat Tulane to win the AAC.

Jacksonville State beat Western Kentucky to win CUSA.

Ohio beat Miami, OH to win the MAC.

So looks like it’s going to be, in no particular order…

Oregon, Penn St, Ohio St, Indiana, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, Arizona St, Notre Dame, Boise St, Clemson and SMU. Now the question will be who gets the bye. I think it’s going to be #1 Oregon, #2 Georgia, #3 Boise St and #4 Arizona St. I don’t see them giving a 3 loss Clemson team the bye and jumping them all the way into a top four spot.

I think bumping out SMU for Bama would be a terrible precedent to set. And would totally kill conference championship games moving forward.

That said, if they were gonna do it for anyone’s benefit, we all know it would be Bama’s.

If the committee stands by their word saying a losing team in their conference championship won’t be punished and jumped by a team that didn’t play in there’s then SMU should solidly be in. Again in the SECCG they kept saying both teams were a lock so if Georgia had lost and still been in over Bama with Bama winning the head to head it’s safe to say Bama is locked in as the last team out. We’ll see though.

Committee got it right. SMU shouldn’t have been booted out because of last night.

And if you’re Bama/Miami/SC/Ole Miss…. Well, sorry, don’t feel like you have much room to complain if you’re a 2-3 loss team that didn’t make your conference championship.

Especially after that comeback.

There will definitely be some second round blowouts I believe, but hey who knows.

Am I the only one that thinks Oregon got screwed with their second round matchup.

Yep.

1 less loss for any of these teams and they'd have been a lock to make the CFP.

Everybody brings up the Kentucky loss for Ole Miss, which was by far the worst loss. The loss at Florida sure changed things though... UGA wouldn't have been in the SEC Championship game had Ole Miss won.

If buts/candy nuts, etc.

I suspect those rules will change soon, very soon.

The top 4 ranked will get a bye regardless of conference.

Yeah Oregon is gonna have a tough road. I’d much rather have Texas or Penn State’s path compared to Oregon’s.

Those first round games are going to be interesting because you are gonna have on campus, outdoor games in Happy Valley, South Bend, and Columbus on December 20th and 21st…. Potential for multiple snow games.

Actually have some good bowl games.
FL/Tulane

Vandy/GT

Bama/Mich.

Duke/OM (if Cutcliffe was still at Duke) would be really interesting.

to mention a few.

Any player that quits before the bowl game should completely forfeit all of their NIL.
And have to sit out a year if they enter the portal before their team’s season is complete.
