Are the expectations at PCS that high that the higher ups are disappointed in the coaching or are the coaches getting fed up with the parents and administration? They have had like 7 coaches in ten years.

The new hire will be the fifth since 2009, but fourth since Hawkins retired after the 2017 season.

Yep.

Can only attest to what I've heard.

But yeah, the environment there is difficult for all involved - the football program, specifically because they never could compete with the 6A MAIS big boys in Jackson. That's the real reason they're leaving the MAIS. It's become harder and harder for them to compete vs the 6A Big 4, and they're just done being doormats.

Now the offiical line is that every team they play is in Jackson and they're tired of having to travel 1.5-2 hours for games.

But honestly, what MHSAA region (besides maybe the coast?) doesn't have legit travel time to most away games? It's really not at all uncommon (in the higher classifications, especially) and honestly not that big a deal. And with no guarantee of the region PCS would play in when they announced their MAIS exit, travel time really isn't the main issue. It's that they just feel they'll be more competitive within the MHSAA. It remains to be seen if this will be true. In some sports, it could very well play out that way. In other sports..hard NO. And they're about to get a huge dose of culture shock in the process.

Then there's the issue of what the school will be called now. They likely won't be Presbyterian Christian within the MHSAA. So there's a name change coming - and lots of parents are fired up about that too. They want their kids going to a named (Prebyterian) Christian school. Some have even talked about pulling out in protest and creating a new school. But idk if I see that happening. I look for an official change in name but no change in inititals, school colors or mascot. Might we see a Pinebelt Central School? Idk. Will be interesting.

Why can’t they be called Presbyterian Christian in the MHSAA?

Idk the reason. I was just privy to some convo that said they cannot have "presbyterian" in their name because MHSAA wouldn't allow it. And that's why PCS parents were mad.

I cannot speak to the factual nature of this. Just repeating what was told to me.

St Andrew's Episcopal

Sacred Heart Catholic

among others but they do not use the church name on paper.

This is what I'm saying.

St Andrews is St Andrews. Sacred Heart is Sacred Heart.

There's a reason they don't use the "episcopal" and "catholic" in their MHSAA names and on uniforms. Their uniforms don't say SAE. The same way Sacred Heart is not SHCS. It's SHHS.

So why would we think PCS would stay PCS when the other schools don't? And if they drop the Presbyterian on their uniforms, then that's just CS. And I don't see "Christian High School" being a legit school name in the same way St Andrews and Sacred Heart are.

See for yourself.

Saint Andrew's Episcopal School: https://www.gosaints.org/

Sacred Heart Catholic School: https://www.shshattiesburg.com/

Dude. You're missing my point.

Not disputing that may be their name on paper. I can Google.

I'm saying that nobody's uniform has a denomination on it, nor are the abbreviations for school names inclusive of a denomination. They are the "SA Saints" or the "SHHS Crusaders" but they do not acknowledge denomination on their sports uniforms. That's all I'm saying. And if PCS were to follow suit, then the "P" would have to stand for something else.

"Resurrection Catholic" is on their XC uniform.

You're assumption is inaccurate.

Lol. Okay man. Have it.

I'm tired of arguing about the unis of football teams I don't even care about for you to bring in a random XC team.

So, take it. You win. Here's your gold star. Congrats. Let us know when the parade is scheduled. Lol
