The unnecessary and forced extra logistics of this is typical of the MHSAA. Meridian should be in 3. Let HC stay in 4 with 7 teams there.

Quitman is very dangerous as a 4. Best 4 in quite awhile.

Couple Observations: I have South 5A this same way. Florence to Cleveland on a week nite for basketball or softball is an unforgiving trip !!

A region with THAT combination of 6 schools would be a gauntlet for baseball and completely up for grabs in football. Vancleave, EC, Purvis, Sumrall, South Jones, Stone - PHEW !! But realistically that would place Wayne County out on quite an island in R3-5A.

I'll be paying close ATTN with what they decide to do, because here on the Coast, them competing in 7A solves the Harrison Central situation and could create a 7 team Coast 7A.

Have they already made a decision for the next cycle to stay Independent ?? I hadn't previously seen that.

Lanier Provine Wayne County and Florence are the 4 furthest North teams in a group of 15 "southern" schools in 5A - 12 make the cut

Then Florence (which is probably further south)

Seems like Lanier Provine and Wayne County would have to be in the North in 5A

Hope Vancleave is ready and motivated to play after a dissapointing result last week. Shake off the long bus ride and be set to go - playing to host a playoff game for first time since 2015 with a win.

There's no possibility of a 5-way tie in Region 4-5A, Bert, since winner of Vancleave at Wayne County will have 3 region wins.

I can agree with that - I also think there should be an attached runoff.

Power School is the computer app that school districts ( ie schools) use to keep attendance and grades.

It definitely occurred all at once. My first thought is it would've worked to the intended outcome better had it only been one player.

Everyone at the Laurel vs Vancleave game Friday found out that MHSAA officials will call a delay of game penalty for faking injuries. This occurred with Laurel down 41-33 and no timeouts under a minute left in the game ...

Would have to see if Murrah gives up independence as well. Wouldn't they be an option for R2 or R3 in 6A ??

The list is much larger now but most other schools are Wed only right now - Saturday games possible.

Hancock County Schools have closed for Wed-Thurs. OLA and CCA have closed Wed.

What makes you think this would only occur at MHSAA schools? I see no reason the same couldn't possibly happen at an MAIS school the same.

At which MHSAA school and sport has this occurred? Do you have a link documenting this? Otherwise, this is purely conjecture.
