  1. Dude you already called me a liar. I need to prove NOTHING to you. Go look it up.
  2. It was OS/OG. Why do you care? Dude unless you were one of the clock operators why do you even care. They need to do their job better. End of story.
  3. Some of the livestreams I’ve watched this year have had PITIFUL clock operators. Worst I’ve seen in years. Including one playoff game last week. Livestream I was watching actually called them out - they’d been messing up all game. And finally the livestream crew told the viewing audience that the last time they looked over at the clock guys, they were both scrolling on their phones. heck. Where do you sign up to get paid for that nonsense? Lmk and I’m headed there now. And these are the best we’ve got? They are the reason 5-7A teams have to finish their regular seasons on Thursdays? Geez. if they can’t even manage a clock, there’s no wonder they’re missing calls all over the place.
  4. That always bothers me too. MHSAA needs better refs. Pay them better, school them more. Idk - whatever it takes. Regardless, If a team is in a position where one bad call seals the game, it’s their own fault. Play better. Additionally, no ref should be making obviously bad calls in a playoff game. All that said - neither team should leave any doubt on the field. If it’s close enough that a bad ref call is the deciding factor in a game, then the team has to see that as their own fault. If one penalty is the deciding factor, neither team has asserted its dominance to a high enough degree. Leave no doubt.
  5. Yeah. I’d be surprised if OG doesn’t pop the cork and let Champagne go off! His fresh legs + offensive weapons like Lewis, Causey, Smith, Weary, Hall, etc just add up to more scoring threats than OS will be able to handle. (Unless - as stated - OG beats themselves up with penalties)
  6. OG should have this one for several reasons: 1. margin of victory in their first matchup (OG won 35-21). While the argument could be made that OS has gotten better since then, the same can be said for OG. So that’s a non-issue. 2. margin of victory vs common opponents: OG over NWR 59-27 OS over NWR 24-17 in playoffs (NWR over OS 29-28 during regular season) OS over Biloxi 34-14 OG over Biloxi 34-20 3. outside the Bray Hubbard years, OG has had a pretty firm grip on this matchup 4. there’s nothing in the data to suggest OS is the better team this year. And their region is less competitive overall. Now, if OS overperforms expectations AND OG cannot control their penalty situation and is injury plagued or underperforms, then OS has a chance to take it in a close one.
  7. Apparently there was an incident after the final whistle at Ocean Springs too. Not sure who from NWR and who from OS was involved. But if there are suspensions for OS next Friday, that could spell disaster for them next week trying to eliminate OG.
  8. In 7A North action: Tupelo over Lewisburg Madison Central over Desoto Central Starkville over Horn Lake Germantown over Oxford Next week will see: Starkville at Tupelo Germantown at Madison Central
  9. In 7A South action Brandon over D’Iberville Ocean Springs over Northwest Rankin OG over Biloxi Petal over Gulfport Next Friday will see: OG at Ocean Springs Petal at Brandon
  10. Where is Reynolds going? He hasn’t been there long
  11. Yes. An ESPN matchup is always huge. if OG/Hoover had been an ESPN game - that’s a whole different story. Anytime any MS team can get an ESPN game, that’s good for the entire state!
  12. Again. I’m not saying it wasn’t a great win for the program. It did mean something for OG’s record even though last years Hoover team was eventually proven to be subpar by their own standards. However, it meant nothing for anyone else in the state. (If you disagree, please lmk what it meant to other schools in MS and athletes outside OG. Would love to hear your take.) What I am saying is that there is no long-term effect of an OG playing a Hoover. It’s not an annual matchup. It’s not something anyone can count on being a good repeat matchup in successive years. It means nothing in a playoff scenario. Meanwhile, creating another in-state rivalry does have sustainable outcomes for the program and other schools/athletes in the state. And again - the Hoover win was a good one. To be sure. It was a feather in OG’s cap at the time. I know those involved enjoyed it.
  13. Don’t disagree that Hoover was a great moment for OG. But in the end it meant nothing for the state of MS or the region. Not taking anything away from the contest or the win. It just had no implications past that night. A matchup with more bragging rights involved and more opportunity for a yearly rematch would be more exciting long-term. Create some new in-state rivalries with North teams or powerhouse teams in 5/6A who always clamor for more respect. Let’s see a Lewisburg/OG or (as suggested above) a West Jones/OG. THAT would be awesome for the area & prompt a lot of student/fan engagement.
  14. Exactly. Same deal as last year when all the MAIS private school kids left (when their team was deemed ineligible for playoffs) and enrolled at Brandon - were immediately made eligible by the MHSAA and then when the weak MAIS reversed the decision, all the private school kids came back again to their original school and were deemed eligible immediately with no penalty or anything. When you’ve got enough $ to hire lawyers who’ll threaten to sue and mean it, the MHSAA/MAIS backs up real quick.
  15. Those would be good matchups. I’d prefer that to seeing them play MAIS schools (MRA, Greenville Christian) or going out of state to pick up a Hoover or a Rummel. I’d actually like to see them drop the Laurel game and do something more competitive within the MHSAA
