It will be the third week in a row West has played defense against the wing. It’s a shame that Oak Grove and Ocean Springs are on the same night would love to see that one too. I’m 5A to the bone so I will be in Picayune once again as a peaceful spectator. Tib ,  I’ll holler.  I’m looking forward to this one. I think it’s going to be intense and swinging back and forth. Lot of people complain and moan but it is a great time to be alive. I love this time of year.

Of course I’ll be in Ocean Springs for that barn burner, but this should be a good one too. What am I saying, they’re all good at this point. Gautier- Vancleave in a rematch makes Jackson county the host for two great games.

I hope we have some offense Friday night and maybe some better play calling to go along with it.  I honestly don’t know what to expect at this point.

I don't know what to expect either. They better not try to just win with just running up the middle with 2, 6, and 41 because we will be sitting at the house next Friday.

I agree completely with that statement.  We just seemed very vanilla against Laurel and their defensive line was beating our offensive line virtually the whole night.  I mean how many times before Friday night did Donte get stopped for a loss?  Things just weren’t working for us offensively against Laurel and I don’t know what the answer is, but hopefully we can right the ship this week.

It is crazy to me that 3 weeks ago Picayune was considered 14 points better than anyone in 5a and now they look extremely vulnerable.

Well our defense is great and our offense is good, but for some reason the size of Laurel’s defensive line got to our offensive line.  We eventually started to wear them down, but my goodness it seemed like the game was almost over with when we began to do so.  They just kept loading the box and we ran right to them.  Hopefully we can get things fixed this week.

I think we will play a lot better this coming Friday. I think we kinda took Laurel a little bit light due to them being a #4 seed. But like everyone says that all the teams that makes the playoffs is good. Our top four in our division was pretty  tough and the Region 3 division with there top 4 is tough also. I think Laurel play up to there potential like they did at times all year. It hard say sometimes who's gonna show up. But we will definitely have to play better on offense for sure this week. I think and I might be wrong but I believe that we didn't show that much .

Do you think they can beat Gautier again if the meet?

absolutely.

to maroontide06’s point about adjustments: laurel watched what gautier did w those quick passes behind our lbs and tried that. but we had adjusted in practice and it showed. i know 29 dropped back and got 2 picks. and the lbs knocked down quite a few. dropped back when needed but still got pressure.

that plus we had a numbskull official the 1st with no idea what pi is.

Back earlier in the season we were spreading the ball around to all our playmakers and when a team stacked the box we made them pay with a quick pass over the middle to #4. We kinda went one dimensional last game or just held back I don't know.

I think it’s funny that Picayune can win 24-9 and 48-42 deep in the season and people are wondering “What’s Wrong with Picayune?”  Once you get in the playoffs a Win is a Win!!!

Understood, but if our offense is as anemic this week as it was last week that definitely is a serious cause for concern.  Fortunately our defense was able to bail out our offense last Friday night with 4 interceptions.  I certainly hope that we can move the football against West Jones.  If we can do that I like our chances a whole lot.

You are so right and to think that they were going to blowout Laurel is just asinine and Laurel at a 4 seed is a tough 1st round match up. I heard Todd Breland on an interview the morning of the Laurel game say that they still had as much talent is anyone in the region and could have been a #1 seed, It will be tough this week again and what hurt the Tide was a weak schedule they had for 4 or 5 weeks were the starters were only playing half a game. I still think they have plenty in the tank going forward.
