Petal often times wins this game off coaching and discipline alone… even when they prob shouldn’t on paper.

I think we run back the same handful of topics during the offseason.. especially this one. We’ve seen teams lose a jamboree and win a state title several times. Also… I get a real kick out of fans being quick to point out how their team “pulled starters” whether they lost or the game was close against a lower opponent. Me personally as long as OG doesn’t look like crap for two series I’m content going into Week 1.

Can someone in the know speak to what’s going on with that program? Saw where 4 kids are transferring to Winona and they lost one of the top sophomores in the state to a school in Louisiana… all in one week.

Gonna hate the year when 7A rotates to Thursday.

As smart as this sounds they were literally a once in a lifetime tip drill away from back to back state titles. I enjoyed watching them lose though.

Mmmm… I wouldn’t count youth football as recruiting. A lot of times the parents themselves take a liking to who coaches their kids the best and/or develop the best rapport over the years. Once they’re in high school and rules start being broken, that’s a different story.

This year is probably the worst I’ve seen.

I like Mississippi State hosting from a venue standpoint. It’s the university being in the middle of nowhere that’s the issue.

Had Hattiesburg won I’m sure a different tune would be sung but yes it is just a spring game.

At first it didn’t bother me but I’m inclined to agree now.

Gonna need some kids to grow up quickly over the spring and summer at linebacker. Loaded everywhere else.

Would have liked to have seen a return trip to Neville LA but that didn’t happen.

Interesting hire. He’ll be as successful as his staff as a few of you have already noted. Hope the best for WC program though. Gained a lot of respect for them over the years and they deserve to be right there in the mix with the other elite programs in the state.

Several schools schedule one offs with other programs now a days especially the ones that play OOS opponents. We post schedules every season regardless in here. Not a new concept.

Kids build relationships with coaches all over the area and state from the time they start playing ball. Good luck stopping those kind of non rule breaking conversations.

He’s referring to the DE Ruffin that transferred in for his senior season. Every time a kid moves to another school people assume someone was “recruited”. I’d love to know what package OG offered his family for him to come to that school. Lemme guess they got a full year lease for an apartment paid for and some office job for his mama. Give me a break.

OG has lost several kids to PCS, Sumrall, Purvis, etc for baseball and things of that nature in the past . But it’s only cool to complain when they leave to go to bigger schools apparently
