With them being one of your rivals I can understand it. But the south needs stronger representation consistently in 5a. Thank goodness Brookhaven turned it on at the right time last season.

To be fair… a handful of these programs should be significantly better than what they are right now. Especially WC and Laurel.

As someone who doesn’t carry cash often these days it doesn’t bother me. I’d argue having to stop at an ATM before the game is a bigger inconvenience than paying for a ticket on my phone.

Apparently they have formed a joint committee to discuss the future of athletics in the state and are two meetings in already. What shall come of this?

Any formula computerized in terms of Mississippi HS football predictions is a dead resource in my opinion.

I do find it funny how Hattiesburg is now the cool school to play at in the pine belt and still can’t buy a state title meanwhile Oak Grove is up to 3 now.

Petal often times wins this game off coaching and discipline alone… even when they prob shouldn’t on paper.

I think we run back the same handful of topics during the offseason.. especially this one. We’ve seen teams lose a jamboree and win a state title several times. Also… I get a real kick out of fans being quick to point out how their team “pulled starters” whether they lost or the game was close against a lower opponent. Me personally as long as OG doesn’t look like crap for two series I’m content going into Week 1.

Can someone in the know speak to what’s going on with that program? Saw where 4 kids are transferring to Winona and they lost one of the top sophomores in the state to a school in Louisiana… all in one week.

As smart as this sounds they were literally a once in a lifetime tip drill away from back to back state titles. I enjoyed watching them lose though.

Mmmm… I wouldn’t count youth football as recruiting. A lot of times the parents themselves take a liking to who coaches their kids the best and/or develop the best rapport over the years. Once they’re in high school and rules start being broken, that’s a different story.

This year is probably the worst I’ve seen.

I like Mississippi State hosting from a venue standpoint. It’s the university being in the middle of nowhere that’s the issue.
