  1. That was the sheet given to those in attendance at the MAAA conference back in early January.. The proposal for vote in April, according to the most recent article written about reclassification says it will be possibly this year. Which makes sense. Start it this year, put us on same reclassification with surrounding states that can help with scheduling OOS games. Scheduling games will not be an issue. I promise you coaches are already on the phone setting up games in the event this happens.
  2. You most likely could be right. However, it is hard for people to not believe it when the opening paragraph begins like this.
  3. But he wrote his article after all the other big papers in Mississippi posted theirs. I just do not see Tyler Cleveland writing that article and it not be some serious steam behind it.
  4. Yes, someone already posted the link. SBLive released an article with MHSAA Director quoting the vote being in April to start 7 classes for the 2022 season. With how close the relationship between SBLive and the MHSAA has become, it makes me believe there is SERIOUS steam behind this happening sooner rather than later.
  5. What I am saying is that I believe they took this year's (October 1) numbers (they could use last count numbers from 2021-2023 too l if they wanted) and have most of everything in place already. Again, I do not see why SBLive would write and article and quote the MHSAA Director saying they were meeting in April to vote on rolling out 7A this upcoming season if they were not seriously considering doing it. Schedules would not take long to work out at all. Region games would already be worked out for you, then you have to schedule 5-6 non-region games. I have a good friend who was an AD in Louisiana for almost 20 years. I asked him about this situation and he said scheduling games would not be an issue. Look at how quickly teams picked up games this year during COVID. Teams would fill their schedules within a month at the worst. So realistically by June, everything would be worked out to go into 7A come August. It really is not as hard as some make it out to be. MHSAA would not be bringing this for a vote if it was not a serious, serious possibility.
  6. That actually wouldn’t be a bad idea. Only problem I see would be if you split it up evenly, you’d have uneven regions for 4-1A. If you do how they propose, it’ll just be 1A that has uneven regions.
  7. If there are 51 left in 1A, then with 8 regions, you’d have 6 in each for 48 total. 3 of the 8 will have to have 7 teams in them, which isn’t too bad.
  8. This is probably my favorite class from top to bottom if this happens.. North and South has quality depth
  9. That 6A actually looks really good to me. I think it would be really competitive.
  10. I’m willing to bet they have seen the numbers and know. I highly doubt the MHSAA would propose all this, accelerate a vote for April to potentially put it in place this year and then vote it down or to “see”. It would not surprise me at all fornthrm to have plan laid out and everything in place on paper ready to roll out. SBLive is an official partner with the MHSAA and MAC. I doubt they would post the story they did and it not be true. I think it’s all formality and it’s happening this year. I could be wrong, but math is math and it all adds up lol. Question will be, what numbers will they use? The count done to set up regions for 2021-2023 or 2021 October count?
  11. That is intriguing about Meridian. They would definitely make things interesting. Laurel, and South Jones are pretty much locks to stay 5A if they move to 7 classes. Wayne County would be a fringe team for 5A/6A. I wish there was more clear information available about what the April vote means. Sb live quotes the MHSAA Director stating it’s being voted in to put in place this year, but other news media says it’s the 2023 season.
  12. I bet they probably would not. They could absolutely pick up a game or two within an hours drive at the minimum. Either way, schedules would not be a huge hurdle in my opinion.
  13. If they vote early April, it will give teams plenty of time to get games set up. Most teams could probably keep their non-region intact anyway. Would not be too hard to pick up 1-2 more
  14. Really?! When did he leave? Any idea where he’s going?
  15. I posed this very question/though and the rebuttal to that I was told is that teams can schedule more geographically close games with teams in their area, allow for classic games and fit in out of state opponents if a team wants.
  16. It definitely will put a time crunch on schools to get games scheduled, but I could see them going for it and doing it now that way when Simpson County consolidates, it won’t be in the middle of reclass and they can account for that when taking numbers for 24-25 reclass year.
  17. That article was published Thursday before Tyler Cleveland’s SBlive report on Friday. It also says “could be” put in for 2023-2025 reclassification. Lot of speculation there. I just do not see Tyler Cleveland writing that article and quoting MHSAA director and it not be true. Media reports are somewhat unreliable at times though I know.
  18. So why use last years numbers if it is not going to occur until then? That makes no sense to me.
  19. The numbers that will be used if vote passes to begin 7 classes this season will be one of two. Either 2021-2022 year numbers from October 1 (Grades 9-12) or they could use last counts numbers. I think MHSAA may be wanting to start it now because of impending consolidation with Magee/Mendenhall. If we start in the 22-24 season, the next reclassification would be 24-25 which is what many project would be the new school’s first season.
  20. That article was written Thursday after Brandon Shields broke MHSAA was proposing 7 classes. Tyler Cleveland released article yesterday quoting MHSAA Director so I would personally put more stake in his article regarding that.
  21. Numbers would be based on 9-12 for 2021-2022 though I believe. Because that is what the school population is at that time.
  22. I think Pascagoula has a complex with 6A or something. Their 3 losing seasons and worst years in the past decade all have come at 6A. 5A, they have consistently been in the hunt and competing. What they do with Pearl will be interesting. Putting them in the south bolsters a solid south half in my opinion. I think they would be your favorites right out the gate. Petal is still a mystery to me with a new coach. Although they did just pick up the QB from Biloxi who is supposed to be good. Throw in west Jones, George county, Hattiesburg, Pascagoula and you’ve something similar to what south 5A has been the past few years in my opinion.
  23. Yeah outside of George County, Pascagoula and Gautier (until Irving leaves) it is not very good. Will be a solid baseball region though.
  24. Go check page one in the 7 classifications post. I posted one for 5-7A on it.
