  1. That is all you can ask for given the circumstances as well! Coach Vance will have them giving all they got, that is for certain.
  2. Oxford vs South Panola Ocean Springs vs Pearl Warren Central vs D'Iberville Louisville vs Clarkdale Caledonia vs Pontotoc Mendenhall vs McComb Velma Jackson vs Kemper Co Enterprise vs Magee Jefferson Davis Co vs Hazelhurst Pisgah vs Newton
  3. Wayne County is going to be down right scary the next 2-3 years from what I have seen watching them play. They look far more prepared for contests now compared to years past. They should be a favorite in 5A south for awhile.
  4. Going to be one of the best playoff games in the state! Might drive up to George County for this one. Great athletes by both teams all over the field! Gill-Martin Stadium is a tough place to go in and win at. I'm going to take George County in a classic 42-35!
  5. The key here is can the Gautier defense stop West Jones. Gautier's defense has been their Achilles heel all season and if teams can keep the Gator offense off the field, it prevents them from getting into a rhythm. They are not as effective when you hold the ball and keep them off the field. I also have to give West Jones a huge boost in the coaching category as well. Scott Pierson vs. Marc High does not bode well for Gautier. I'll take the Mustangs 38-21.
  6. East Central will keep this one close, but I see Brookhaven pulling out the W in a 35-31 type of contest.
  7. Picayune should win by 3-4 TD's in this one. Unfortunate what Hattiesburg has endured with injuries. Would probably be a much different game if they were healthy.
  8. 6A South Predictions: These are just some shots in the dark about how I feel for each game. Do not take it personal if my prediction does not align with yours lol I think Ocean Springs sputters a little early and then eventually pulls away in a 42-24 type of ballgame. Pearl is a solid ball club who runs the ball well, but I think Ocean Springs will have too much firepower. I think Gulfport keeps it close early on, but Oak Grove eventually grabs command and ends up winning something like 35-14. I think Brandon houses Harrison Central fairly easily. I just do not like this matchup for the Red Rebels at all. I see Brandon winning comfortably with a score of something like 45-10. d'Iberville and Warren Central to me appears to be the most evenly matched game of all the 6A south games. I like the Warriors at home, with their senior laden group. However, it is hard to ignore that Warren Central has been a perennial playoff team the past 4-5 years in a much harder region than 4-6A is/was. To me it is a true toss up, but I am going to take the Warriors in a 28-21 type of game.
  9. I get what you are saying. d'Iberville is a solid ball club, I just do not know if they are good enough to get out of the 1st round. Other than OS, no team on the coast this year has really impressed me. Like I said, I hope I am wrong, but I am not confident in them to win in the playoffs this year.
  10. The Pascagoula game was absolutely in doubt. I was at that game. Warriors had to recover an onside kick at the end to win. Pascagoula also had several chances to put points on the board (a trick play attempt right before half over kicking a field goal sticks out - they kick the FG, they most likely win the game) that could have made the difference. If Pascagoula does not completely crap down their legs in the first half, it very well could have been a different game because they ran all over the Warriors that night. I always lean with rooting for the Warriors due to family ties (my brother and his family live there, I have nieces and nephews that have all played sports for them in the past 7-8 years), but this team just does not impress me overall. Are they a good football team? Absolutely, YES! Do I think they are capable of winning a first round playoff game? Sure. Do I think they will? Honestly I do not think so. I hope I am proven wrong, though!
  11. Ocean Springs is probably the only team in region 4 that I believe can win. They are in a class of their own this year as far as the region went. d'Iberville, Harrison Central, Gulfport and Pascagoula all seem to be somewhat evenly matched and their games against one another could have went either in most cases. I do not expect any Region 4 team to make any noise except Ocean Springs.
  12. I want to buy the Moss Point hype as bad as anyone, but they continue to underperform year after year come playoff time. Last year they were beaten at home by a 4-seed in Lawrence County who was 2-6 I believe on the year. Seen them play this year and their defense is good. Offense has nice weapons. QB play is inconsistent but he throws a beautiful deep ball. They are as dangerous as they have been, I am just not sure if they can get it done. Especially with a 2nd round matchup against Poplarville. To me, you have Columbia and then everyone else in 4A South.
  13. I think Vancleave will be fine going forward. I know their 9th and 10th grade groups are really solid and I hear the 8th grade group is good. Dogs were in for a down year from what I gathered anyway. Losing some OL/DL and their QB from last year. Bilbo was the only thing really coming back. Obviously being in a tough 5A region compared to the cupcake that is coast 4A is a little different. What are enrollment numbers going to be next reclassification? I have been told that both Vancleave and East Central are steadily going to continue to grow. I got to watch their last two freshmen teams and I was impressed with how they played and looked. Better days are coming.
  14. Long Beach has surrendered 35+ points in every game this year. In region play alone, they are giving up about 50 points a game defensively. Conversely, they are averaging roughly 10 points a game in region play on offense. I appreciate your optimism about this game, but if I just do not see any scenario in which they keep it that close with Picayune. I'll take the Tide 56-7 in this one. Long Beach has a long road ahead. Not sure why they are as bad as they have been the past few seasons, but something has to change. Decent community, great school. They should at least be competitive.
  15. Picayune in a 35-21 type of game.
  16. LOL I think I know where you are going. You know the situation a lot better than I do. I can only speak based off of what I have seen on the field.
  17. I see no reason d'Iberville does not win this game. Especially if the Panthers are without Parnell. Offensively, the Panthers appear to be pretty good, but also inconsistent ( I noted 4-5 different times they drove down into Gulfport territory and came away with zero points when watching replay online). Defensively, they do not look very good at all. Do not tackle well, not great in coverage. Not sure what the solution is for Pascagoula. You can see it watching them the potential to be really good is there. They just stall out at times offensively and cannot seem to get off the field defensively.
  18. Alright, I have made my decision. Give me the 'Hounds in a hard fought, close contest. 28-21.
  19. Ocean Springs offense is LEGIT. Probably the best I have seen on the coast in some time. They can do it all. For me it is a toss up. My nephew graduated from d'Iberville this past year, so I no longer have an allegiance to them so it is hard for me to make a definite pick. lol I will have something picked closer to Friday!
  20. I think Vancleave wins it. Bilbo appears to be legit. Vancleave is a physical football team. I just do not have any reason to suspect that Long Beach will win this game.
  21. Offensively, no. They lost their QB early on and it just is not the same show without him in it. They are still tough and physical, but he added another element with his option game. Defensively, they do a solid job. They just struggle in the secondary not being as athletic as other teams. They are going to be a tough out for anyone though regardless.
  22. Gautier has probably the best offense in that region. No doubt about that. However, they have probably a bottom 3 defense. Teams like George County, Picayune, East Central and even Vancleave (to an extent) can hurt them by playing keep away. Getting them off rhythm and forcing them to have to score every possession which puts a ton of pressure on an offense. Also, from a head coaching perspective I do not have much faith in them. High has had a playoff caliber team his 4 years there and has came up with nothing. He is a really great man and truly loves the kids in that community, but he has underachieved (like the last 4 Gautier football coaches). Gautier's chance to make some serious noise is now or never. They have their stud QB and WRs for the next 2 years. Significant drop off in that department once they are gone. I still George County is the team to beat with Picayune, Gautier, and East Central (in no order) after them.
  23. If this is not over by halftime, I will be surprised. Biloxi looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane. They have not impressed me much at all from what I have seen of them. Warrior defense is freaking stout. Offense just has to be good enough. Which they have been.
  24. Excited for this game! I'll give a slight edge to Wayne County since the game has moved there. It is pretty darn tough to go in and win in Waynesboro.
