  1. I was told numbers are due by next Wednesday. Some schools are already turning in reporting numbers as well.
  2. You seriously should consider starting a podcast covering these things. I would listen for sure! Great stuff
  3. Ocean Springs wins this pretty comfortably in my opinion.
  4. Picayune 49 Vancleave 21 Vancleave scores 1 or 2 late vs. Picayune JV groups. I do not see Vancleave's defense keeping up with Picayune at all.
  5. Based on this, coast 7A Harrison Central would be odd man out and pushed up to Region 3-7A. Coast 6A would feature, George County, Picayune, Long Beach, Pascagoula, Gautier and West Harrison. PRC would be pushed up to Region 3 I would assume due to being further north than Picayune (albeit 15 minutes or less)? Wayne County, Hattiesburg, Terry, South Jones and West Jones with PRC would be a good region.
  6. Biloxi Indians @ d’Iberville Warriors - Big Game for both teams. I think will be a good matchup early on, but I just have a feeling d'Iberville pulls away. Harrison Central Red Rebels @ Pascagoula Panthers - Toss up game. I think both have the talent and ability to be solid playoff teams. Going to go with Harrison Central though because they just seem to have Pascagoula's number here lately. Gulfport Admirals @ St. Martin Yellowjackets - Gulfport by 14+. Jackets are improved, but I am still not impressed with their defense. Ocean Springs Greyhounds @ Hancock Hawks - OS by 28. They are just better in every phase. While neither team has really beaten anyone too great (although Clinton playing Brandon tough like they did was a surprise) I still feel Ocean Springs is just that much better.
  7. This. Laurel and Vancleave are LOCKS for 5A. I do not see any scenario where either would bump to 6A.
  8. I think I saw someone post where Lafayette and West Point would potentially be 5A as well with Vicksburg, Holmes County Central and Laurel. 5A would be a pretty dang tough classification to win!
  9. I believe East Central, Vancleave and Stone will be pretty much locks for region 4. I have heard rumblings that Gautier is on the verge of staying 5A as well, but I just do not see how that would be the case. So if Picayune and Wayne County stay 5A, I would imagine them being in the "coast" region as well.
  10. Slick, where do you see Wayne County going during reclassifcation? Is there a possibility of you guys staying 5A?
  11. My post was not about or directed at any of the other programs you listed. I simply responded to West Harrison and Vancleave. I still do not think either Vancleave or West Harrison are playoff contenders at this point. Could they be? Sure. However from the eye test of what I have seen of both teams, I do not see it. I also did not state George County as being any sort of good either. However, I do believe George County has the athletes available to beat Vancleave. Will they? Who knows. I just know Vancleave has yet to play a team with great athletes (their big achilles heel) and they will have to soon enough so we will find out how good they are.
  12. Not very impressed with either of them honestly. Both have played a relatively easy schedule. Vancleave's resume appears better because they beat a 3-1 Hancock, but if you look at Hancock's opponents, they've beaten up on some bad teams so I do not think they are very great either. Vancleave has a 3 game stretch to prove if they are legit playoff contenders or not the next 3 weeks after they devour a terrible Long Beach on Friday. Picayune, George County and Gautier will be definitely set the bar of how good Vancleave really is. West Harrison has only beaten 1 team with a Win so far and it was Bay High. So, I definitely see them coming back to earth this Friday vs. East Central.
  13. I would say absolutely yes. They have looked down right bad the last 2-3 seasons I have watched them. They have tough kids that play hard. They just do not have very many athletes at all coupled with talent pool not very good. It is not a good situation for them right now.
  14. Just finished watching the replay on youtube. Great game between two squads that really battled hard. Pascagoula did not play that hard against Gautier or Moss Point. Wayne County has a really good team. I do not know how they will do it, but #12 needs the ball more or at least more opportunities. #26 at half-back is really great as well. I was impressed with how hard both teams played and got after it. #1 for Pascagoula was absolutely great as was Parnell. If Pascagoula can get that effort and execution going forward, they will be tough. They looked like a different team. Energy on the sidelines and kids playing hard. Wayne County is no slouch and will compete for their region crown. They have some kinks to work out, but they are a really good team with some great players and a solid Head Football Coach.
  15. Numbers are from September 1 count I believe, but do not get posted until October. Could be completely wrong in that though
  16. I was told Pascagoula AD spoke to eligibility director at MHSAA earlier in the week and explained the situation and that person cleared him to play. It was not until Gautier AD made a few calls around kick off and brought it to MHSAA attention that he had not done his 14 days of acclimatization and MHSAA realized they made a mistake. This is all second hand information but would explain why he was allowed to suit up and play.
  17. I saw some posts on social media about it and reached out to a friend I know in the area and I was told that Gautier AD made a phone call right before kick-off to certain MHSAA Director with big ties to Gautier who made the appropriate phone calls to get him ruled ineligible on the grounds of not meeting the 14 day acclimatization period.
  18. 12-31 in 4, going on 5 seasons. I do not see how he survives another 2-3 win campaign.
  19. Region 4 I would probably have Gautier at 3 right now and George County at 4. Vancleave is right there fighting for a spot as well. West Harrison has certainly done well out of the gate, however the level of competition they have faced has not been very good so I believe the jury is still out on them. PRC and Long Beach are abysmal though. I expect Owen to be gone after this season.
  20. Gulfport appears big along the defensive line. Not that it affects Picayune a whole lot anyway. I expect Picayune to win this one. 35-24 type of game. Never really in doubt, but the score makes it a closer looking contest.
  21. If the team who took the field against Gautier takes the field against Wayne County, you will not have much trouble. Sims is a great man from all accounts, but something has to give in Pascagoula.
  22. Picayune outside of a year or two in the last 2 decades just seems to reload year after year. When the new count occurs next month for 7 classes, where do you think Picayune lands? I have seen some saying 6A and others saying a larger 5A
  23. To me, JV outcomes don't matter. As long as those kids are getting to play, they are going to improve. I have seen programs not be good at JV or even freshmen football and go on to be really, really good by the time they were seniors.
  24. Gautier losing to Provine is pretty surprising.
