I actually would be excited for the battles that would take place in the south half. Would be great football games!

I believe I read (I could be wrong) they will start in the 23-24 season.

Obviously with Wayne County and Lafayette both at 717, 5A or 6A could take an extra team like 5A did with Vancleave/Laurel from last count. I just split them up for the sake of 24 teams in each.

6A Numbers - Added together Magee/Mendenhall for Simpson County numbers

7A numbers - Numbers were taken from MDE site for 21-22 school year for grades 8-10 (will be 9-11 for 22-23 school year). Obviously numbers could fluctuate some but this was as accurate as I could get.

Where do you go to find enrollment numbers for the privates schools that are in the MSHAA like St. Stanislaus, Piney Woods, French Camp, etc.

That does not bode well for a new incoming coach if Lewis Sims does in fact step down in the next few seasons like it has been rumored.

Hattiesburg is in the smack middle of 6A even with only 9-11. Numbers I saw have them around 770.

From the numbers I saw, Picayune as well as Wayne County are trending toward 6A. 6A south will be a gauntlet with the likes of Picayune, Hattiesburg, West Jones, Pascagoula, Wayne County, and Petal all possibly in there.

That is about it offensively from what I am told. Defense does bring back some experience but lost both inside linebackers. One to transfer, the other to graduation.

I was told the DC at St. Martin was told his services were no longer needed and was let go. Absolutely could see that scenario you stated play out, I was just told he was let go.

I would not be surprised if he is let go similar to what I heard went down at St. Martin. OC gets job and the DC who applied/interviewed for the spot is let go.

I don't get this logic. Is the NFL watered down because the super bowl winner is the best of 32 teams? Is the NBA and MLB watered down? Their champion is the best of 30.

You think it will be Hancock who goes north? I was think Harrison Central possibly with being right on highway 49.

They count 9-12.

That is a pretty solid region. Would be some great games between those two regions come playoff time.

Going to be interesting to see how the number play out.

Can you give a breakdown of what 5, 6, and 7A regions will look like since you’ve look at the most recent numbers this year?

I would almost wager it is 100% the reason they did it. I do think it can ease the travel issues for some, but it will not be a fix all for travel. I do think it will create parity and there will be some great competition. However, I definitely can see how some see it as watered down. I was really high on this decision a few months back. The more I think on it, the less I like it, but I still think it has great potential overall.
