  1. The senate bill, if I’m reading correctly, only allows a student that is in a poorly performing school district to transfer to a better school district. In other words, you cannot transfer from a B school to another B school. But you can transfer from an F school to a B school. It will be interesting to see what all criteria they set for that. I don’t think you should be able to transfer from a B or C school period, not even to an A school. If you are in a failing school, I could see it maybe. This is probably the states way of eventually closing down all these failing school districts
  2. Oh it’s gonna create mass chaos
  3. No. Every county needs one district, that’s it. Desoto county only has one school district. It desoto county can fully operate and thrive with one school district, so can everybody else
  4. You cannot transfer just to play sports if the school you are currently at does not grant a release. Now if the school doesn’t fight it, then nothing will happen. I wish these smaller schools would fight back to stop these bigger schools from poaching their players.
  5. You said there were less risks to transferring to a bigger school. Anytime a kid already has offers, there are always MORE risks when transferring anywhere, it especially to a bigger school. If you don’t already have offers, or your only offers are JUCO, then it may could be less of a risk. But not when you are already on a lot of teams radar. I mean heck, the starting QB for PCS’s dad is now the GM for USM
  6. And he finished the season with 22 total tackles and 2 sacks. After a monster season the year before at PCS. So you tell me, did his stock go up or down?
  7. He already had offers dude. He wasn’t trying to get seen. He was already on teams radar. Heck I think he was actually already commited to Arkansas state.
  8. He already had offers before he transferred. PCS doesn’t have a problem with getting kids offers. Moving to oak grove only presented more risk than benefit than anything.
  9. It’s not a matter of offering a player anything. It’s simply getting in their ear and convincing them to come play for them instead.
  10. He was a defensive lineman. Believe his name was Ruffin. And yes, PCS is a private school who can legally recruit. That’s why I said that was a wash. I don’t care who gets recruited away from private schools.
  11. I never said it was cool anywhere, I have said the opposite actually. But thank you for confirming what I’m talking about. And if OG granted those players a release, that’s on them. I will even go a step further and say I’m not totally opposed to a player leaving to go play a sport for his senior season, but it would have to be a situation where the MHSAA looked at it and determined the player had underclassmen that was ahead of him and he was not going to get to play his final season, and therefore they would allow him to transfer somewhere else his senior year. I wouldn’t be totally opposed to that, but it would have to be a process that had to be looked into.
  12. They just took the kid from PCS literally this last season, but to me that’s a wash anyway because PCS is allowed to legally recruit. The recruiting at oak grove and Hattiesburg starts before they get to high school.
  13. That’s not accurate. The MHSAA is the one who determines the eligibility of recruited players. They just ruled the kid from Stringer ineligible that was being recruited by West Jones this past season. In this case, Loyd Star may not be protesting the move. I get the feeling both parties want to move on from the other.
  14. These kids nowadays are so dramatic. The kid is basically admitting he’s transferring just to play sports. If the MHSAA allows him to transfer they should be ashamed. But i wouldn’t be surprised if Loyd star is freely releasing him. I heard either he or his family had become an issue. Regardless, I have a feeling he’s going to find out the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. He was blessed to be in the offensive system that Loyd Star ran, which gave him the ball 25+ times a game, and allowed him to rush for a ton of yards against weak opponents almost every week. In any other offensive system, he doesn’t come close to putting up the same rushing stats. I think he’s about to learn a harsh lesson, and it appears it will be his and his family’s own doing.
  15. Dang Mount Olive should have consolidated with collins
  16. That’s false. You can’t just send your kid to school where you want them to plays sports at. West Jones found that out this year.
  17. Football but I’m sure it goes on in all sports
  18. I know oak grove, Hattiesburg, petal, and west jones recruit like crazy. I don’t know about the schools up north but I heard plenty of stories about those bigger schools up there. Petal at least tries to do it “legally”. They got the kid from taylorsville by offering the mother a job at the school as an assistant basketball coach. So nothing you can do about that. West Jones finally got busted last year, and got the kid from stringer ruled ineligible but that was only because the coach from stringer fought back and didn’t just allow them to poach his best players. Other schools have players living with coaches while claiming addresses that they don’t actually live at. Heidelberg has been rumored to be doing that right now currently. Look, if the players actually move to those school districts with their families then so be it. But these bigger schools cherry picking the best players from smaller schools and those players never actually moving to those districts has got to stop.
  19. If the family moves then that’s fine. But too often these players just go live with somebody else, or they just claim an address at another district and never move at all.
  20. You sit back and just allow these bigger schools to poach your players, you kill your program. If the family moves, then so be it. If the family claims to move but never does, or the player moves in with a friend or “cousin” then they should be ruled ineligible. Recruiting in public schools ball is getting out of hand. Again, if the family moves to another district then so be it. But other than that, it should be shut down
  21. If those schools just lay down and let them leave without a legit reason, then they get what they deserve I guess. Ain’t no way I would let it slide
  22. Bogue Chitto will replace West Lincoln Newton will replace Clarkdale. Philadelphia and Velma Jackson will drop down to the south and replace Lake and Newton in that region.
  23. Merry Christmas from the Mecca of smith county…. Mize Mississippi
