Who will benefit from the new Classifications the most?
Rebel Bert replied to JRoss1958's topic in Football
You will have up to 52 schools divided by 8 Regions starting in 2023. 13 are non football and will be included in those 52. 9 of those 13 are in North Ms around Tupelo to Tennessee line. 4 are in the Jackson Metro area although I don't know why MSB and Williams in Raymond is even listed among the 52. What ever region you are slotted in you will play football, basketball, softball, and baseball in those regions. 4 Regions of 7 schools with 3 Regions having only 4 football schools makes sense. 2 Regions of 6 around Jackson and Meridian to Starkville with 2 non football. 2 Regions with 6 all football. But common sense never works in this world. -

I think you will 3 Regions of 7 schools in NE Mississippi. That will give you 21 with 9 non football and 12 football all 12 making the playoffs. The remaining 31 will be divided by 5 or 6 schools per region with 1 non football school attached to one or more of the south regions. Further north in the Delta or Starkville to Amory area will make up that 4th north region. The Greenville area 1A's or Starkville area will be in the south. That's my thinking. -

You have: Salem, Taylorsville, Richton, Mt Olive, Stringer playing Football MSD, MSB, Pinet Woods non Football Then Leake County, Noxapater, Nanih Waiya, French Camp, Ethel, McAdams playing football Maybe that Greenville area 1A Schools will make 5 or 6 team Region. -

4A may become stronger 2A Maynot want Raleigh 3A will be the same in strength 1A will be interesting as to how the regions work out with 9 non football schools around Tupelo -
Throw in the 9th -11th grade numbers instead of 9-12 & they may be slotted as 2A and 3A. Plus you have figure by being private schools the double the numbers have to factor in or a change is coming on how that is factored in.

I was told late yesterday that MAIS is going 7 classes. Simpson will be 6A. I don't have a clue how it will be set up. My guess is 7A with 6 schools and maybe 6A with 6 schools. The rest will be 100รท5 in some fasion.

Bay Springs moving back up and Raleigh moving down along Marion County Consolidating one of the 2 if not both join Region 8 2A. Stringer dropping down both may join.

I heard that MAIS is going 7 Classifications.

2023-24 Reclassification will only count 9-11 grades

Yes it's still 2A. I think you have a couple of 48s in like 3rd or 2nd grade. Otherwise I believe you will maintain 2A. -

At the top of this article is the last 10 4A, 3A, 2A, top 10 or so of 1A. I had Mendenhall number but I didn't list it. Under 8-10 combined with Magee is 5A. -

2023-24 Reclassification will only count 9-11 grades
Rebel Bert replied to Rebel Bert's topic in Football
That's the classifications presented to the committee in February starting with 7A on the back of the front page floating around. Those are the October 2021 numbers used in the discussion. The committee has since passed a proposal to only count 9th-11th grades. These numbers are now obsolete. I posted them to prove to you that they count all schools performing in at least 1 sport. -

OLA has to be included. I did not include MSMS because they are 11-12 grades only. I don't know if they will count their 11th grade next year and if they will be 1A. The nonfootbsll schools including 13 in 1A have to be classified. St Andrew's, Sacred Heart, St Patrick have to be classified even if they stay independent for 23-24 and 24-25 school years for other sports. There will be in a region with 4 football playing schools and those 4 schools will be going to playoffs even if 0-10. -

I decided to go back and check some of this with the 8th-10 grades. If Maripn Consolidates this fall they go 4A. Morton drops back and takes West Marion slot. 1A will be dropped to 51. One of the following drops to South 3A: Yazoo County, Choctaw County, or Noxubee County. 2A will have 5 regions in the south with one region going north depending on who those 5 will be. I think it could be the 2 Madison County Schools and 3 Rankin County Schools or 1 Rankin and 2 Scitt County Schools.
