  1. Miami takes down A&M and will face Ohio State next. Ole Miss vs Tulane feels like a waste of time early. lol.
  2. Because Indiana has beaten two teams better than Alabama.
  3. Time will tell on Golding the actual HC, and good or bad it’s probably not fair to judge based off what may or may not happen in this playoff run. That said, can’t really argue with many of his staff hires. On paper it’s a strong staff.
  4. Really nice comeback. I think they’ve done too much damage to make the NCAAT without a crazy run in SEC play. but the hope is maybe they can win out the rest of nonconference and put together a decent enough conference record to make the NIT
  5. If that’s in fact true, Ole Miss wins that trade IMO. Frank Wilson is awesome. I know State was targeting Washington for their WR coach opening. We will see where they go now.
  6. Appears that USM’s next head coach will be Blake Anderson. I think I really like this move, to be honest. High floor coach that has won three conference titles in the G5. I believe he will keep up the positive momentum that Huff kicked off.
  7. Anyone else surprised at Golding’s contract? $6.8 million seems quite high for a “never been a head coach” type of hire that certainly would come with some risk. I guess when you put it in the context of he’s about the 4th lowest paid coach in the league even at $6.8 million, it doesn’t seem as bad. I’m not sure what Clark Lea’s new salary at Vandy is, he may be making more than Golding. But otherwise I believe Lebby, Silverfield, and Stein would be the only coaches making less than Pete. Assuming Lea got a big raise, Lebby is probably the lowest paid coach in the league with room to spare…. But hard to argue with it given his record through two years.
  8. Kiffin: I’m about to have the craziest coaching carousel drama you’ve ever seen. Sherrone Moore: Hold my beer
  9. According to Lebby, Kamario and Kromenhoek are the only two scholarship QB’s traveling to the bowl game. Shapen has already left the team. Thus completely ends the era of one of the stranger MSU QB experiences I can recall.
  10. John David Baker hired as OM’s new OC. I guess that officially ends the “Charlie Weis is actually staying” rumor mill.
  11. Holecek may one of the most nondescript assistant coaches State has ever had. If he’s gone, I guess that’s fine. I don’t know the first thing about him and don’t feel that he’s made that strong of an impression at all. Some people are very upset about the Bumphis thing… I personally think it depends on the next hire but I’m not sure I was ever sold on him being that great. I don’t think he’s a bad coach but I always felt like his impact in recruiting and development was very overrated. State has had a ton of HS receivers not pan out in the last few years, and I”m not sure that Chad was super involved in some of the transfers they’ve brought in. I hope there are other staff changes to come too, this was the weakest coaching staff in the SEC the last two years and it needs to be shaken up quite a bit. Sounds like Bumphis is UNLV bound for a reunion with Mullen. State people tend have blinders on when it comes to former players who are in coaching. People mostly remember Bumphis as our best WR in the early Mullen era and somehow conflate that with he’s been a really good coach too. I like Chad as a person but I just don’t see it that way.
  12. In 2023 Will Hall went 3-9 at USM In 2024 he started 1-6 before being fired And before the end of 2025 he has been named the HC of a literal Playoff team. There is some major WTF on that one, if you ask me.
  13. It appears Tulane is hiring Will Hall as their head coach. Would be fascinated to get thoughts from a USM fan on that.
  14. May be a tough winter for hoops in Mississippi. State is 4-5. Ole Miss, after starting 5-0, has lost 4 in a row.
  15. I like their head coach a lot. Jacob Dickert will be at a big job within a few years if he wants it. They went 4-8 the two prior years and flipped it to 8-4 in his first season this year.
  16. State will be playing Wake Forest. Rematch of the 2011 Music City Bowl. They have a really weird resume. Some good wins and perplexing losses. I know their QB is Robby Ashford so the two QB’s in this game may rush for 400 yards.
  17. It’s official, State is going to the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. ACC opponent announced later. Sure why not. lol.
  18. 2020 as well (weird year with COVID but State went 3-7 and made a bowl game because so many teams were opting out of them).
  19. Also don’t look now but State is possibly about to backdoor into a bowl game at 5-7 again. Kansas State and Iowa State have both declined bowl bids, if anyone else backs out (maybe a grumpy Notre Dame?) then State is in. Is that pathetic? Yes! Do I think it would be good for State’s freshman QB and returning players to get the experience of playing in one? Also yes.
  20. Good call, sir. So I presume an Ole Miss/Georgia rematch in the Sugar Bowl is incoming. That will be an incredible atmosphere.
  21. Duke beats Virginia. Wow. So an Ole Miss vs Tulane rematch in Oxford. I.e. I would go ahead and book your hotel rooms for the second round game, OM fans.
  22. Yeah I think it will be 1. Indiana 2. Georgia 3. Ohio State Which, if that’s the case, OM’s second playoff game would likely be Ohio State in the Orange Bowl.
  23. I get the resume thing and I’m not saying that doesn’t matter but watching all three teams in the last month, I think Notre Dame and Miami would both beat Bama by 10+. My suspicion is Notre Dame gets in at 9 and they drop Bama to 10 to basically serve as a buffer between ND and Miami and it keeps the Canes out. And the justification will be they didn’t make the title game of a weak conference.
  24. Georgia looks like they are poised to last for a while in this playoff. Meanwhile, I think it’s time to to discuss whether a 3 loss Bama belongs in this thing. They have looked really bad over the last month and you’ve got Miami and Notre Dame right there as worthy options.
  25. If the SECCG score holds (Georgia currently up 14-0 on Bama) then the scenario at the 5 and 6 line is pretty simple. Oregon would remain the 5 and OM remains the 6. If Virginia wins tonight: Tulane at Oregon, Virginia at Ole Miss If Duke wins tonight: JMU (or a 5 loss Duke) at Oregon, Tulane at Ole Miss Boy do the 5 and 6 seeds have it good in this current format.
