These are from the predicted scores thread and I really don’t agree with them. Madison Central 31 West Jones 10 Madison best not come into this game unfocused and mistake prone. SoSo is a tough place to play and the ball always bounces West’s way there. I wouldn’t be shocked if the upset happens in this game. George Co. 42 Gulfport 21 Another tough place to get a win first game of the season. Bottom line I don’t think George can pull it off. Petal 35 Hattiesburg 30 For the sake of region pride Hattiesburg needs to win this game and I think they will rather easily. Marcus ain’t walking back through them locker room doors. I don’t get the hype for Petal.

Brookhaven has a very soft landing in region play

I don’t know much about Jackson Al as a football team. They won a lot of games last year. When the starters were in if this would have been a fight they would have stopped it. Boyd at RB looks all district at least. Possibly more. They have found several other young scat backs that can break it too. The passing game is drastically improved also. Special teams need a lot of work. The defense was straight up nasty. The coaches have done an outstanding job in the offseason. Going through Quitman next week won’t be much of a task. After that the bell is going to ring because football school will start as the Grover’s come to town. They will score at least two TDs off of our special teams if we don’t get that cleaned up. OG always has solid special teams.

Wayne County 12 jackson alabama 0 jax has had the ball twice and our defense has KNOCKED the ball loose twice and recovered it. Offense drove down easily and scored. Isiah Boyd is back.XPs are still a work in progress.

What about that little slim shady y’all had at running back when we played last season. That kid could fly. If you didn’t get him right at the handoff, that was fifteen to twenty yards guaranteed.

I don’t know if calling South Jones asleep or a sleeper is really accurate. In a coma is how I would describe the state they are in. Bricks I don’t always agree with your thoughts but at least you are trying to bring some thoughtful life to this place. I appreciate that.

Why does Brookhaven have a cream puff schedule down the stretch while WC, Laurel, Hattiesburg and West beat each other up right before the playoffs start ?

You can’t get Deonte away from the house to watch a game. I think he’s got the same Friday night dilemma as Dub. They can’t get away from the women. The season is fast approaching, I’m expecting you to make it to one this season.

I don't get it either. Coaching wasn't innovative at all on offense they ran the same four plays over and over .They had the same stale bread approach at Picayune in he postseason.I wish we would have made it instead of them . We needed the experience .

Putting us over Laurel and West Jones is a reach, IMO. To go from missing the playoffs to winning that region would be a mammoth achievement. I would love it if we did. Like you said that oline for Laurel and you know West will have a defense that will shut down the run. Laurel beat them in the playoffs because they could throw it. Can we ? Honestly our offense looked like an ongoing project last month in poplarville.

Then how were they playing on it ?

Natchez hands down had the worst field I’ve seen in twenty years. There were low spots covered in ankle deep weeds and grass . Knocked our best running back out when he hurt his ankle cutting on that crap. When it rains Laurel’s field gets like potting soil with grass on top of it. It’s been that way for years. It should have been fixed a long time ago. Lot of people like the nostalgia of the bricks but that track keeps you from seeing the action unless they are right in front of you. For me, I prefer the stadiums like West Jones and the old Brandon stadium. You are right on top of the action. With no tracks and narrow sidelines

Last Friday and the weekend down here there was hardly no humidity It reminded me of the end of September and made me want to hit the road for a game. Eight more weeks and it will be August. I’m counting it down.

Poplarville has a good team and all the players are comfortable in their system. Varsity at half was Poplarville up 7-0. Our defense got their legs under and played well after the first drive TD. On offense there was a lot of three and outs with us throwing the ball. We graduated all of our receivers and I can see where they were trying to work on a passing game but the blame for this game has to fall on our offensive line. I didn’t get into who was out there but they looked like they were getting schooled on what varsity football is all about. At the horn it was Poplarville winning 21-0 Now the JV , man I am so excited to watch these kids go up. That defense was the most physical of any unit in the stadium Friday night. You could hear the pads popping at the snap and they put the runner on the ground with ferocity. It was 14-0 quick with two long scoring plays by us before they took some of the horses out. It wound up a tie at 14. I can’t see some of them kids staying JV for long. All on all it was a good time in a beautiful setting and evening. I hope we can keep playing poplarville. We need the work for that type of offense.

I feel pretty confident in saying that we didn’t play a team last season as good as Oak Grove will be so it will be the first time our players have went up against top 6A competition. Coach is still saying the offensive line is nowhere close to what he wants it which means our kids will probably get schooled. Every program trying to climb the ladder has to take the lumps but the good ones learn from it. I look for a lot of freshman to push for playing time. On another note, when are you going to quit chasing tail and start coming to these games again. We need to tailgate one Friday.

Wayne County will be playing in Poplarville at PRCC. I really don’t know against who, on May 20.
