Big early road win for State. Even bigger considering they had a 22 point lead go down to 5 late. They have a brutal stretch coming up. Five of the next six are KY, Auburn, OM, Tennessee and Bama. That’s insane.

I thought Simmons would play more also, but I’m sure the coaches know what they have in him. Let Dart enjoy his last game. You won’t see many teams look like OM did in a bowl game. You can tell the difference when a team is still pretty much in tact from the regular season. OM will be in a perfect position for the playoffs again next year. I’m convinced the talent and depth is there, just need to be more consistent from a coaching standpoint. It seems crazy to say that with the staff they have, but they make you scratch your head sometimes.

I’ll give Sanders credit. They got their ass handed to them early and he still had two potential top 10 picks that played and didn’t quit.

Box score showed Hubbard only had 13 I think. That’s big if they can win without him going off against good teams.

Could they? Possibly, but they also lost to Georgia State.

Indiana bombed the two big tests they had. They did beat a Michigan team that beat Ohio State, as well as did not struggle with lesser teams like Bama, OM, Miami and others. Do I think Bama and OM are better than Indiana? Yes. However, they were also better than Kentucky and Vandy, so we can’t act like it’s a guarantee they are.

That is legit NIL income.

I saw a Tennessee LB called out an X account for saying he was going to State. He said he hasn’t said anything and the guy doesn’t have “sources” saying it either.

I know the court ruled players can capitalize of NIL, so wouldn’t any other form of payment be against NCAA rules? Of course we all know they technically aren’t getting paid for their name, image and likeness anyway.

His argument, I think, was he wasn’t able to capitalize on NIL when he was in JUCO and counting those years didn’t allow him to earn for 4 years like the other players. Lol

I don’t think anyone envisioned 4 schools in four years or 7-8 years of eligibility. Lol. Personally I’m all for freedom to roam around the country, but there definitely needs to be contracts signed from day one. And since tuition was never really a benefit for college athletes, let them lay their own way unless they get an academic scholarship. ***

What I don’t get is you can’t contact a player unless he is in the portal, but several players are getting in the portal because they have an offer from other schools.

I thought OM was loaded at WR last year too, but they had one injured star, another one with one big game and one just collecting a paycheck. Maybe Simmons will spread it around a little more.

Golding had all the talent in the world at Bama also, but he probably had his best performing defense as a DC this year. I didn’t look at the stats, just going off memory. Of course the SEC offenses were crazy inconsistent this year.

You’ll have to spend more for players than other schools just to get them to come. Unfortunately, it seems Selmon is probably in over his head. A young, inexperienced first time AD at the same time NIL is blowing up was a bad scenario.

Not sure if it’s factual or not, but on X that MVB was asking 1.5 and Arnold 2.5. That’s for the bottom three QBs in the SEC statistically. Lol. Why would anyone put their money towards those results. Just curious, how much was Dart supposedly getting last year?

That’s the only way to do it because you’re paying for them to play. Nobody is buying a Ford F150 because the starting WR THIS year was in an ad for the local Ford dealer. They aren’t getting paid for NIL. It would be interesting to see what these players are still getting that decide to “redshirt” so they can enter the portal. I would assume their semester of tuition is already paid, but the rest should be cut off at the point they decide not to contribute. Go to class on your own, pay your own rent, go to the local gym to workout.

Coaching is more important now than it has ever been. It seems like a lot of the players in the portal have already been in the portal at least once. You have to have leadership and a coach that can either get the players he needs for his system or adjust his system for whatever players he can pick up. It’s like being a JUCO coach and having a whole new roster every two years.

Should be 10-2 at least. They can’t screw that softball schedule up again.

Especially after that comeback. There will definitely be some second round blowouts I believe, but hey who knows. Am I the only one that thinks Oregon got screwed with their second round matchup.
