  1. What's it their turn for? Maybe I'm missing something here.
  2. A lot of public schools are playing jamborees this weekend with kickoffs at 6 pm. It’s kind of a moot point. They are getting the football in one way or another.
  3. I think he’s trying to make a positive difference there. Maybe @WABO1, @Wareaglefan1us or @slicklizard could chime in and give some insights as to what they expect out of the War Eagles this year.
  4. I guess my thinking is when y’all play Petal there shouldn’t be a whole lot of offensive flub ups. I’m not saying there won’t be issues but at least there should be some carryover that will keep y’all from having to totally reinvent the wheel.
  5. Having the same OC should help, but I agree with the sentiment. Hopefully y’all can get some kinks worked out in the Jamboree.
  6. Bingo. Oak Grove and Brandon are still monsters which creates some turbulence. If he can navigate that and navigate the monsters out of the North, he’d be the best Mississippi has ever had and it wouldn’t even be disputable.
  7. Dub, from 1993-2011 Boyles was elite. Those Taylorsville, Pearl & Wayne County years were his best. That was an extremely high clip of winning that went on during that time span. Now his span with Petal from 2012-2020 was very good as well. Still a high clip of winning there, and his worst years really aren't that bad at all. He's been able to win pretty much everywhere he's been. Now here comes the unavoidable "but": the last time he brought home a gold ball was 2006. Like it or not that's now 20 football seasons ago. If he's going to get another he needs to get it done rather quickly wouldn't you think?
  8. We had 7 home games last year and ended up with 10 home games. I enjoyed the heck out of it. Don't know if I'll live to see double digit home games again.
  9. And they probably will, but Hattiesburg retained their OC. This game could get interesting.
  10. Great post. I honestly don't think you would have to take it as far as a playoff berth. Think about this situation: What would happen if Oak Grove takes Petal to the woodshed or if Oak Grove beats Petal within a two possession margin? Reality would set in real quick.
  11. Another thing to think about is the importance of the opener in Hattiesburg against Southern Miss. If Huff takes him to the woodshed, you'd have a ton of irreparable fallout. There's a lot riding on that opener for sure.
  12. To get to 6 wins though he would need to beat Arizona State and once you put all that into perspective, it becomes a very tall task. I'm not saying Mississippi State can't beat Arizona State, but to expect it to happen almost seems unrealistic. He needs a signature win and if he's going to get one, why not Arizona State?
  13. Well if State doesn't beat Southern Miss week 1 it won't matter if the ASU game is a must win or not. They've got to beat Southern Miss, Alcorn State, and Northern Illinois. If they beat Arizona State that would be a huge boost, but unfortunately this is the real world. If State can win those three and somehow manage to snag a couple of conference wins I think that would be a huge boost for Lebby. Now if he manages to beat Arizona State while snagging a couple of conference games, you've got to tip your cap to his coaching staff. I'd personally like to see him find 5 wins on the schedule.
  14. It's nice to see Germantown get some love. I really hope they can back it up.
  15. Reclassification occurs every two years. The only reason there are 7 teams in Region 4 is because they don't split ties. Two schools were tied with enrollment numbers so that's why there's 25 in 7A. In 2027 it should drop back down to 24 barring any ties.
  16. I miss seeing Mr. Wayne in his Bassfield hat. He wore it with pride.
  17. They included the old conference championships (Re: Big 8 Champions) into the algorithm.
  18. Here's another caveat: they are only using active football programs. I kept looking for Weir and I couldn't find them.
  19. Vott don't cut yourself short. That 1924 title is just as valid today as it was then.
  20. Go Hornets!!! This makes that Poplarville win even sweeter.
  21. They shouldn't even have that MAIS crap in there when literally everything else is MHSAA teams. When I saw that it didn't have West Point in the overall top 10, I knew not to put any stock into it. MaxPreps can't even get basic schedules right.
  22. Might wanna take this with the extra salty Rattlesnake Bites I had at Texas Roadhouse this evening. Just don’t let it raise your blood pressure LOL.
  23. How do they play these Jamboree games? Is it like another Spring Game Scrimmage where they can do whatever the coaches agree upon?
  24. Well when we went to West Jones for South State in 2023 I had to park in someone's front yard on Lonesome Pines Rd which is where the home side is. If they want to keep the stands along Lonesome Pines Rd the home side, they need some parking over there. Maybe buy up some houses or something or even put in parking behind the houses. Most of the parking at West Jones is over on the other side of the baseball field and it's completely opposite of their home side. Visitors probably have an easier go of it than the home crowd.
