  7. Whatever happened to MHSWriter? That dude was a mod on here and was also a State fan. I also want to apologize for you getting mod edited. You're just calling it like you see it and there's no shame in that.
  8. Oh yes they definitely want the win. I'll take an ugly win over a pretty loss every single day of the week. Not saying that will happen, but all Picayune needs is 3-4 yards per play. You don't even need the flashy or chunk plays. Leave them for some other game LOL.
  9. I feel like Picayune may be going into this contest as a slight underdog. That's fine and I've always thought Picayune plays better when they aren't the clear cut favorite. It's going to take a great 4 quarter effort to beat Ocean Springs, but I think it's a task Picayune is up to completing. Here's some keys to the game for Picayune: 1.) This ain't Christmas. It's not gift giving time. No presents need to be brought to the game, nor do they need to be handed out. 2.) Play smart, disciplined football. Clean up the penalties. Don't play from behind the sticks. 3.) Eat Clock. When the Ocean Springs offense is on the sideline, guess what? They can't score. Have those long patented 7-9 minute Maroon Tide drives and score at the end of them. 4.) Get a few defensive stops. I don't expect Ocean Springs will be handing out presents, so make them bring out the punt team a few times.
  10. Undefeated PRC is playing Poplarville who lost a game. Who woulda thunk Poplarville would lose a game before PRC? I realize they may not beat Poplarville, but before the season began I was a dead lock on them not beating Gautier and now they have a decent chance at winning that one. If they hold serve and beat Sumrall, Long Beach, and Hancock that will get them to 6 wins with a chance to get to 7 wins if they beat Gautier. I still have Picayune, Goula, & Poplarville as losses for them but you never know.
  11. No worries. Picayune managed to get the W. Wasn't easy, but they couldn't stop the run. You might as well come to OS/Picayune Friday night. Should be a good one.
  12. So does that make Hattiesburg the geriatric brother? LOL
  13. Maybe it's just a down year for Lumberton. They usually have a good bit of talent and can punch above their weight most years.
  14. How's Lumberton this year? Do they beat Wesson?
  15. You won't jinx anything I can assure you. The game will play out like it's going to play out. Both teams will be better for playing this game win or lose.
  16. If Picayune continues to improve I like their chances in this one. Biloxi was tough, but to Picayune's credit they play a tough schedule on purpose. I don't think you'll see a blowout in this contest one way or the other, but I do think Picayune has enough horses in the stable to control the time of possession and wear down the Ocean Springs defense. Picayune just needs to operate like a well oiled machine.
  17. Just be careful on Texas Flat. Coming from the Kiln it's real bumpy. It needs to be repaved again.
  18. @coastfootballfanmanWhat time you getting to the stadium Friday night?
  19. Well come to Picayune and watch it. The invitation is there. We'd love to have you.
  20. Sumrall has gone from a 2A school to a 5A school in just a short span of 23 years. They keep getting bigger.
  21. I’d love to be proven wrong, but history tells a different story. I’m honestly not surprised that Brookhaven beat Madison Central. If Brookhaven does manage to come out of 5A South, maybe they can get lucky and face someone different out of the North. In order for Brookhaven to win another state title, that would seem to be the best path to take.
  22. To elaborate on Hightide’s thoughts, both of these teams will probably run the table in both of their respective classifications regardless of the outcome Friday night. @ccbulldoghere’s your matchup of the two best teams South of I-20.
  23. C’mon Vott. You know I ain’t taking that bait. With all the hype a game like this should bring, it’s still a non-district game.
  24. This matchup is looking like a battle of behemoths. Both teams are consensus top 10 teams in whichever poll you look at. Feel free to post your in depth analysis of this contest and vote for the team you think will win.
  25. Solid win for the Devils. Going to have to play great against Poplarville next week.
