Most schedules are already complete for 2023/24. Revising regions at this point would create more issues than resolve.

Saint Stanislaus has a vacancy for the position of Head Football Coach. Current teaching areas are social studies and PE, but other areas are negotiable. Candidates should send their resume to Athletic Director, Stace McRaney, at smcraney@ststan.com.

What I've seen of Puckett is a lot of potential - should have had better results than they've had recently. Don't know the ins or outs about why, but there's talent there. They've been losing athletes to other nearby schools so there's that.

That's brutal?

Glad that's settled. Now I guess, since it's confirmed, folks will stop squawking about private schools doing the same thing?

NYPost reports that Leach had a massive heart attack and was without medical attention for 10-15 minutes before defibrillation, followed by seizures and possible brain damage because of the period of time in which his brain did not receive oxygen. A very bleak outlook as anyone can see. Having worked as a fireman previously, a 10 minute lapse of heart function is nearly never something defibrillation can reactivate and it's stunning that he survived at all.

Such a shame that historically dominant football teams (Weir and Ackerman) combined only to be derailed by one nepotistic group. I guess serving your own trumps serving the county...

Wow. Is the well running dry at Winona? b/c Grenada is a huge challenge competitively speaking

Which Tompkins? Joey?

I found it. The game was the "Mississippi Independent Scholastic Football Championship", so named in the Daily Herald and Clarion-Ledger - "Independent" meaning teams not affiliated with a conference. The Delta Democrat Times said it was "a benefit game sponsored by The National War Fund and Community Chest of Lauderdale County". (The game was played in Merdian.) Meridian (10-1/7-0) and Greenville (10-0/6-0) were Big Eight Co-Champions. Picayune did play and defeat two Big Eight teams in 1943 - 6-4 Jackson Central (21-6) and 4-3-2 Gulfport (13-0).

I was unaware that there was a playoff series in 1943. Seems odd to have had one during the middle of the war
