  1. As a parent in OS of a football player I am pretty upset. I am upset that the coaches that have already decided to leave are still allowed to be around players. Talking to my son last night he said yeah, Coach Green was in the weight room yesterday talking to players. Also, my son just texted me and said that his friend has had daily calls from Coach Pennock TO HIS MOTHER asking him to go to Gulfport. He also said that Will Smith the running back said the same thing about Pennock reaching out to his dad. I have reached out to a couple of parents and we are making a complaint with MHSAA today.

  2. The grass is not greener most of the time old man. Some people have a problem with lying to themselves about why they have that fire in the belly I guess. I know I wouldn’t be on his bandwagon anymore. Plus going to a school right up the street who wil be playing against you every season ?

  3. Mr. Vott I actually agree with on this. People can say what they want, but at the end of the day you have to make a decision for you and your family. On side note, if people are upset that a coach is leaving, that means he did a good job and holds value at that point. So grats to him and this will be an interesting coaching carousel for the next month or so

  4. So if the pay is great and it's a great place to live and the facilities are top notch but you don't make it past south state, you're not a premier program. That goes for any school. If your school has never had the chance to win it all it's not a premier program. Does not matter if it's the best city in the state, doesn't matter if the coach makes $200,000 a year doesn't matter if you have a 5 million dollar indoor facility. Premier programs are based on one thing. WINS.

  5. Triston Cooper from Picayune is gonna be a good one also. He got a lot a of playing time this year on both sides of the ball.

  6. Just saw a successful coach leave for higher pay, if the OS faithful is right about these upcoming classes they could be a force to be reckoned with for a while.

  7. Being in the legal profession, I quickly read the MSHAA guidelines. In Section 3.1 Illegal recruiting - the Coach has been in violation of at least 2 guidelines. In fault of 3.1.2 and 3.1.5- Which states 3.1.5 A student transferring from one member school to another shall be ruled ineligible for one calendar year from the date of enrollment because of “undue influence” if any of the following situations exist: 4. A student transfers to a new school within one calendar year of the relocation of his/her coach, including non-faculty, to that school. I will not even continue into the next sections, as there are clear violations within those guidelines. Another parent is typing up an email currently to file a complaint and I just left a message for the principal of the highschool. More compliants will be filed today. Here is the general number for MSHAA is 16019246400. If you want to leave Coach because of a financial situation I will respect that decision but, you will do it in the right way and not take down a program that supported you.

  8. OS would have to pay what Gulfport paid Pennock or more for Mitchell to leave Germantown.

  9. I like that you laugh, but I’m afraid that with all of the success in Picayune, that’s the natural coaching tree to start any coaching search at a bigger school. One of the old assistants, Mitchell, who’s now at Germantown would be a good place to start, though I hate the poaching of coaches already engaged, like what happened to us. I know that some of the current assistants might be ready to upgrade, but that might require their new team switching to a more run oriented offense. I don’t know your guys, and certainly wouldn’t wish that on your kids, but wonder if moving from the top 5A to one of the top 6A programs is actually an improvement, outside of getting to move into a head coaching position. Again, I’m not asking you to comment on current guys or throw anybody under the bus. Just wondering in a generic train of thought about the old Dodd Lee family tree.

  10. I need to scare up some popcorn for this thread. I know the outgoing Superintendent is very pro athletics. The school board would be wise to maintain that course in finding a successor. If not, I don't envision the community tolerating an underperforming football program as standards have changed in Ocean Springs.

  11. There is no reason for anyone to be bitter about it. It's a personal decision that he thought would be best for him and his family. If I was making 95,000 and had a chance to make 120,000 I'd leave my place of employment on the spot and tell my new employer I'll be there tomorrow. Lol
