You’d have to attract a bunch of schools to make it worthwhile for people to jump. It wouldn’t make sense to join a new organization with only a handful of members.
-
Indiana has used just about all of their nine lucky rabbits. State’s only breaks have been bad breaks as in injuries. Defense actually played well last night. Held Texas to 60 yards rushing. If we can find a way to scratch out a win against Vandy, I think all of our mindsets will be better. Can’t fault the effort as our guys are playing hard. Ole Miss did what I expected. Game stayed close for a half and then pulled away in the second half.
-
Ohio State takes another loss. Miami barely survived.
-
No idea if State would have won without the Swan injury but he dang sure played well until knocked out. Every team deals with injuries but dang State is snakebit with them this year.
-
I think tonight has softened my stance on Lebby’s future. This team has had insanely tough injury luck. I don’t know how to properly or fairly evaluate State the rest of the year with how much of a M.A.S.H. Unit they are.
-
State has more first downs (8-6) and more yards (133-126) than Texas at the half. Losing 17-0. OM looked like they had it on cruise control today. Huge game next week.
-
State incapable of catching a break right now. Looked pretty competent with Swann, driving to cut it to a one possession game…. He gets killed on a sack, scoop and score TD, and now Swann is hurt too. Back to the Billy Puckett experience.

You know if you really break it down I think Ethel has a better chance than people might expect. Ethel only gives up around 11-12 ppg, where Stringer is 1-3 this season when they score under 30 points. Ethel has held an 8-2 Eupora team to 14 points, and a banged up Nanih Waiya to only 6 points. Although Ethel has experienced offensive struggles most of the year, I think they could pull it off at home assuming their defense can match Stringer’s offensive physicality.
-
Ole Miss was very MID in the first half, played very well the second half. I’m curious where the CFP committee puts Ole Miss Tuesday… 11 or 12 is my guess?
-
OM beats Auburn comfortably in a game that was a lot like what most expected it to be.

3 regions in the Tupelo to Columbus area and 10 or 12 non football schools is one reason.
-
I have asked and gotten no answer. In the past they had a week to protest classification, then a week to protest regions. Think the first part is past. The second part if its 7 days should be Monday afternoon at the earliest. I don't expect protest unless a Region 7 2A school is sent to Region 8 or 6. Maybe in 3A Seminary or JDC doesn't get what they desire.
-
why are there so many more 1A schools in the north than south that Simmons has to go play in the south.?
-
I agree with this statement. For Ethel this is pretty impressive. I don't think they will beat Stringer in the 2nd round but, I think they will at least get to play them.

Well it feels good to be relevant again. Just goes to show that coaching matters. We still have talent here. Yes there are challenges with these players but they know the history of this program. Coach Vance has embraced that tradition and the older fans/former players are supporting the team again. Attendance has grown from 500 fans a game to 5,000 per game and I suspect we will see the biggest crowd at Ray Stadium in at least 10 years. Best of all our kids are having fun playing football.

Ethel upset Nanih Waiya and won a district title for the first time since 1995. They also have not won a playoff game since 1991, but that should change when they play West Lincoln next Friday. For a program with a 36% all time winning percentage, this has been a great year for them. Definitely wouldn’t be considered “historic” for the blue blood programs in the state, but in comparison to their recent history, this has been a great year for them.
-
Yea and both teams going home next Friday and crying back on their bus
-
What's "historic" about Ethel this season?
