What if any part of the drop off in the bullpen was due to Parker? were the guys simply not as good as their high ratings?
-
2027 should be another good year with a more realistic shot at going to Omaha. With Coach O’Connor and the staff (except Parker who was already here) having a year under their belt, the continuity of the staff and players will be better. If you look at the beginning of the season, our lineup was quite different from what it was later in the year. Next February, I believe that we will have a more settled lineup, though with the depth we will have, it will give Coach the luxury of playing more guys situationally. As I mentioned previously on different occasions, we were a top fifteen team this year. Next year I think we can be a top ten team with the potential of winning it all. But we know how difficult that is to accomplish.

If they have the same qb from last year I dont expect too much.

October 2025 #'s 8th-10th grades 7A #24 Horn Lake 988 6A #1 Meridian 958 #2 Pearl 922 #5 Terry 871 #14 West Jones 765 #15 Hattiesburg 762 #16 Forest Hill 758 #19 Jim Hill 742 So 3 of the 7, JIm Hill, Pearl, and Meridian are located north of I-20. I believe Jim Hill will go region 2 but you never know if Canton, Ridgeland, Callaway, Murrah, Warren Central just might get Meridian and not Jim Hill or eveb Pearl.
-
You are right. For some reason I thought they won it that year with Kevin Norwood.
-
Hopefully it will work out so you can get 5 home and 5 away. Realignment could come into play to schedule non region games next season. Some have speculated that Meridian could be 6a next season and in 2028. That would probably have them in the region with Hattiesburg and that would open up an opponent for non region play.
-
Yep. As I mentioned hopefully he will be able to reset that after this year’s rotation is complete. That will make for a tough schedule this year but with Coach Tony Vance, I believe the team will be much better disciplined wise, organizationally, fundamentally etc. on the field this year. I don’t really care about wins/losses this year, I just want to see a functional team on the field. And only three Friday night home games as well. The last home game is on a Thursday night.
-
It had to be on the non region part of the schedule. With five region games you will always have the 3/2 2/3 split. Looks like last season Meridian had the 3/2 split with region home games they also had the 3/2 split with the non region games as well which reversed the schedule this yr making it 2/3 and 2/3

Honestly, Long Beach should've never run Forrest Williams out of town the way they did. He was the last coach who was successful there. He went 6-5 and he was also the athletic director, and they decided to push him out of Head Football coach, and athletic director and made him an assistant principal. Was the last coach who was good there, and everyone else has been in a tailspin.

State and Ole Miss both in the same Arlington tourney next year as well. Dallas Baptist, UCLA, Wake Forest, Penn State also going to be there, not sure who is playing who yet (doubt State and OM play each other though). Yeah they’ve done a really nice job of filling holes in the lineup. Hard to expect the offense to be quite as good as it was last year given how historically good Reese and Sullivan were, as well as others, but it doesn’t feel like they’ll have that much of a drop off. And you’d assume they’ll be better on the mound with all the experience and talent that is returning. Haven’t added as many portal arms as one might think, but I do think they’ve added a couple of nice bullpen options. When your whole starting rotation is returning, can’t imagine it’s easy to recruit portal arms who know they probably are not going to be starters here. And everyone wants to start in this era.

That was a decade ago... NC stopped releasing kids in their district to other schools. They will consolidate if the state mandates it, which is possible, but I doubt it happens otherwise.
-
This is not rumor. I had a cousin who lived just inside Newton County Schools line. They were sending the child to Sebastopol or Lake.l as I recall. They now live in Pearl River County. Newton County Dchools started cracking down on situations like theirs. They were going to force them to sind the child to Decatur an hour away vs a 10 minute drive school. She worked in Forest at the time. It was just better to drop the child off and drive on to work. Then word came out that 2 districts were consolidating in Newton County. I t will be interesting to see if any kids west of Newton or Decatur end up at Lake when it happens.
-
I don't see Lauderdale County Schools or Meridian affected at this time. I believe most of these schools they are looking at are in smaller population areas where 2 superintendent offices exist.

Shaping up as a year of transition for Ole Miss and USM with new HC’s. Obviously a different stratosphere with each program. USM trying to establish their identity in the Sunbelt and Ole Miss trying to sustain the recent success of the program. Both could be difficult. I do believe Ole Miss has plenty of talent but the rest of the SEC does as well. And football gods can be very cruel in this league. I can see Ole Miss going 9-3/10-2 if every thing goes correctly. But I can also see 7-5/6-6 if things go South. You just never know. As was mentioned, hopefully for Ole Miss the LSU game does not tarnish the season if it is a loss. But that game is going to be tricky. All the pressure is on Ole Miss win that game. But before that is a test against Louisville in the season opener. That is no gimme. I think Ole Miss is the better team but that doesn’t guarantee a win. State is really a wild card. I do think we have a better team in place but I am not sure how that translates into wins and losses. I am never an advocate for firing coaches as I think a coach deserves 5-6 or even 10 years in place. But in our microwave society of the current time, that is not realistic. So we are coming to the ULM game September 5th. Hopefully we will look good that night and start the season right. Beyond that we will see what happens. USM is kind of a mystery right now. Hard to get a read on the team but hopefully they will have some success this year.

What reliable source does two guys not from NC actually have??
- Last week
-
I am not sure how the 6-4/4-6 split happened with Meridian. Hopefully, they can reset that to 5-5 in 2027. Possibly, it was just one of those things that Cheyenne was not able to balance out prior to the 2025 schedule. I know there are a lot of moving parts when you are putting together a football schedule.
-
I see OM as a playoff contender, how can you not with Chambliss, Lacy, and some of their DL returning? But I don’t think they go 11-1 like they did last year. 9-3, perhaps? The thing that would maybe concern me if I’m an OM fan is that last year’s team was outstanding in close games, and that can be hard to replicate year over year. I think the Kiffin era bore that out as well, his ‘24 team may have been his best one but they fell apart in close games.
-
Just trying to be even keeled about it. last year they won several games by a one score margin. what if, lets say the D gives up 5.6 more points per game and the O averages roughly 4.7 less points on the board. What you have then is a very competitive SEC team with roughly 4 or 5 losses with no wiggle room vs Vandy, Mizzou or state. And i am already counting louisville as a win. Defenses will be schemed more toward limiting trinidad directly now that he has a body of work. Then I think who wanted pete and not Weiss jr to be the HC? JUst food for thought......
-
I know there is rumors.
-
I think you may be underestimating Ole Miss' potential. They have a very good team and may win all of those (not realistically likely, but possible).
-
D’Iberville lost the 08 champ game to noxubee county.
-
I think Newton and Newton county schools, not just districts, are considering consolidating. Columbia tried to get east and west Marion to all consolidate with them a few years ago but west and east declined.
-
I think the only counties left with more than 2 districts will have to Bolivar and Washington. Bolivar has already consolidated down to 3 Districts. Washington has Washington CIty, Washington County, and Western Line. I want to see the bill to have a better ideal of where we are going. I can see East and West Jasper, RIchton and Perry Central district offices consolidating. I think Newton City and Newton County are already in the works in some form. Scott County and Forest Municipal Districts should go ahead and Consolidate. Marion County and Columbia City should as well. Go ahead and Consolidate Enterprise and Clarke County as well. That's all I can think of district offices in the south.
